Hi guys and girls,

Quick questions about thermostats..

I know alot of you change to a high flow, low temp thermostat, and I understand that these will open at a lower temp then the standard ones.

Why wouldn't they just install these factory if they reduce the engine temp?

Does the use of a lower temp high flow thermo reduce power or anything?

What brand/types are you all using? And how much are they worth?

P.S My totally stock xr6t constantly sits just under halfway on the temp guage, does this sound like it's running too hot?

Hi, my xr6T sits on about half way as well. I changed to a cooler thermostat, it keeps it running a bit cooler for a while but eventually it just goes back up to about half way. On the highway it runs cooler but as you start driving, after a few bursts of throttle its back at half way. Probably a waste of time mod.

I run one in my Typhoon since new and it never gets more than a smidgen above quarter, even when you flog it, or it idles in traffic for a long time during the 38-40 degree days Perth gets too often. If you get the right one they are great. A cooler engine keeps more power.

PM Simon from Xtreme, a site sponsor and he will put you onto the right one. Definately worth it if you want to get up it or live in a hot climate :ladysman:
