lapdog Member 27 Member For: 17y 3m 8d Posted 07/06/08 03:09 PM Share Posted 07/06/08 03:09 PM I had a noise coming from my rear end and was adamant it was the diff. I pulled it out got it checked and found nothing wrong. Put it back together noise went away and I thought good however it came back after week of driving. Checked bearing in hub found left one needed replacing so did that .Noise went away but then decided to come back after another week....starting to pull my hair out by now, noise got real bad real quick so after another hair pulling session replaced right rear bearing and checked left one again....incredibly it had packed it in as well. Two new bearings later problem solved What a head%uck that was

So I am thinking could be a bearing issue or CV......what a pain in the arse. Hopefully its not a loose tooth in the diff!

Was that the CV endind itself? Been there ever since, but heres the thing, It used to knock slightly ON acceleration then went away. Nows it back louder and on coasting/ light throttle.I've seen the shafts are around $300 but the Diff's?Who recondtitons them in Sydney? I'm not replacing it.What do you guys reckon? Anyway to check either? Thanks on AUSTRALIA DAY!!!!!NathPerfectly described I am having the exact same problem... I thought I was silly trying to explain it to ford the first time the guy had no idea what I was trying to say. I can go back to them now at the next service and say stick it right up ya its a common problem!!!
