The amount of torque they have in factory form makes them perfect

I agree that TT's make an excellent tow package, and power will never be a problem, but when towing I would only run in factory tune, otherwise you would be constantly running a high torque figure through the transmission and whole drivetrain.

A recent tow test in a 4wd mag, tested every 4wd with heavy towing and the only one that was able to retain the same speed up hills was a Territory, and that wasn't even a turbo, the Disco 3 came second.

What other 4wd's were in the test. I drove back from Bris on sunday in my old mans landcruiser & it towed the car & trailer with ease, chewed a sh*tload of fuel but only the larger hills slowed it up. Did they run the new cruiser, I'm told the thing really hauls ass and pulls like a train.

Awesome tow car, the 2.1t weight of the TT with an edit and debung with 600nm torque at all 4 wheels its just the best.

Ive had v8s all my life and never experianced the ease of towing with the TT.

I only tow a van once a year but it was one of the main reasons of choosing a TT.

Avg fuel over 600kms is only 23l/100 but you can set the cruise at 100 and forget about it and do it uphilll and downhill all day.

Top tow vehicle.

No the test was'nt that recent, it may have been nearly 12 months ago.

From memory there was :

Ford Territory 4L petrol

Prado 4l petrol and 3L diesel

Pathfinder 4L petrol and 2.5 diesel

Disco 3 V8 and 2.7 diesel

All the Jap utes

Hyundai Terracan 3.5L petrol and diesel

Kia sorento 3.5L petrol

Jeep cherokee 3'7 petrol

There were others but I forget now!

they set the throttle to go 100kph along the flat pulling a caravan, then continued up a long hill without adding any throttle.

The result was that the Territory was the only one that held its speed, most of the others dropped to about 80kph or less.

Add a turbo to that and ............just too easy.

I could tow my boat (1500kg) with my T and still beat everyone at the lights with ease.

What other cars would you consider xrotor? Landcruisers have no more grunt that a disco V8 do they?

The big attraction the territory has is the availibility of LPG injections systems to keep running costs down somewhat.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Its just when I bought the range rover I looked at Territory Turbo's and some of the sales guys didn't have confidence to recommend them for the weight I was towing and showed concern for the drivetrain durability and potential over heating issues with the turbo. Instead pushing me towards a V8 Sedan. So I was wondering if in the last couple of years if any maintenence or reliability issues had raised their head.

Edit- done plenty of reading/searching on here in the last while and have already decided if I got one, the bung in the exhaust would go and one of Brett's from A.P.E. LPG injection set ups would be on the top priority list!

just asking as I thought you couldnt of had it for long if the TT's were already available at the time....

A friend of mine has the RR and he loves it... hasnt reaaly had any issues with it and it is about 10 years old. Great cars for your intended purpose

haha, yeah I know. The issues was that 6 months ago I just bought a house so wasn't sure on how funds would be once all had settled. Now I know I have more money left over than I factored in, plus I have had a great pay increase at work, so can afford to upgrade. The rangie is great, I love it, but dropping to 60km/h towing is a pain in the ass. The new car will be through my work so its in some ways more beneficial to me to have a car that's newer from a tax situation.

We are towing a big weight and the rangie finds it much harder than I had anticipated.

So its time to upgrade around start of new financial year, which means all the fun of research now!
