Isher, don't use anything but a genuine oil filter if your going to change the oil yourself. If the filter fails and the engine blows up and due to this, and trust me that is easy to find if it does, say seeya to the repair being covered under warranty.

I recently inspected a truck that had a massive engine failure because the bottom of the non genuine filter blew out, $22000 bucks later the truck was repaired but not under warranty !

So what is teh genuine oil filter?

Is it the Motocraft one?

Do Ford lable their own? Would I be better getting one from the dealer as spare parts to ensure it is genuine?

I was going to go to K-mart and get a Ryco or Motorcraft.

Can anyone tell me what model number and brand of oil filter I should get?

Sorry to sound ignotrant on this, but I am..

My other car is an 12 year old Ford Laser with 200,000k's on theclock. She gets whatever oil filter is at hand when I'm at K-Mart..

Regards,

isher

ken when you say intercooler grill is that a ford fitted grill and does it go at the bottom of spoiler like the gt,s. because I cant belive that the turbo,s dont have one because I would hate to think what a intercooler would cost to replace if a stone went through it ....

TBO240, the XR6T doesn't come with any "Ford fitted" grill in front of the intercooler!

My service guy has been putting his own custom-made ones on the Turbos they sell (if owner agrees) and I've got to say that I'm pretty happy with both the price and the effect. Choice of colours, black, silver, red, blue ... I chose black, so it wouldn't be that noticeable.

The grill covers the hole below the lights and in front of the intercooler. Mine was fitted by "hot melt" and "tape", no holes, screws, bolts, etc.,

3000km already !! Man Ken, have you been driving all night or something ??

Just went for a quick trip to the Great Ocean Road. Only gone for a couple of days. Going to do it again, sometime, probably on my way to Perth via Adelaide, Nullabor, etc.

Any chance of a photo over the next few days.

Has anyone out there either purchased one of these in New Zealand, or had one sent over from Aus ? Contacts & information would be helpful.

Yeh, I tried to take a couple of shots of it ... pics in the gallery, but they didn't come out well ... very hard to see. I'll try again in different lighting conditions and see if I have more luck.

... I did say I wanted it to be un-noticeable. :)
