The only problem they told me about at my 3000K service was that tey did a four wheel allignment (under warrentie) as they thought the steering was a bit out. News to me, but I didn't care.

BlackMagic: At least your mechanic was being fairly diligent. I guess he could have 'pretended' that he didn't see these issues and wait until you found them, the hard way... The wort way you could look at it is that it was a slow day in the shop and they wanted the extra $$ for the work carried out under warranty. I would not wory too much about it, sounds like they did a fairly good jop at assessing your car for potential issues. Personally, I'm more worried because they didn't find ANYTHING wrong at my 3000km service.

IMTURBO: Do you have to use ford genuine parts when doing an oild cahnge (ie, oil filter)? I am thinking about changeing my oil at 5000km and was wondering if using a ryco (or other manufacturers) filter would affect my warranty.

Regards,

Isher

I have no idea what they did on the 3k service as I never saw any paper work. I do know that they did not change the oil though.

BTW - I had my 15k service today and the total cost was less than $150. The oil and filter were changed - filter $12.27 and the oil (Castrol FMX Magnatec 1030 - 6.6 lt) was $42.90. prices are excl GST.

IMTRBO,

IMHO Motocraft is Ford's parts arm.

So you do have a "Ford" part on your car, I remember when Direct sponsorship of race cars wasn't permitted, and Dick Johnsons car didn't run "Official" ford logos, but it did run a motocraft logo (true Blu & Green's Tuf Falcons)

I've also see a photo of one of Brocks cars with an AC Delco logo as well.

Gregorys were dead keen to w/a my car as well at 3000km, even though I had reported no problems. I suspect that they hadn't set it up correctly for the 18s in the first place, rather they just traded wheels with another car that they had in stock. They didn't charge me for it so I was happy. :)

Guys, thanks for all the words of comfort - I guess you've always gotta look on the up and up and things could be worse than it is.

But I did fail to mention thatt the head mechanic is a good mate of mine and therefore the good service and cheap parts. I don't think I would have gotten away that good if it was with anyone else.

Silverhawk, the wear was on the outside edge and they have noted that the Shims have been adjusted. Do I still need to get it independently checked??

Also does anyone know anything about the Fuel Vapour Valve from the Fuel Purge?? I still have to take mine back as the vents at the front (Left passenger side) is still make a flapping sound as if a piece of plastic is banging inside the vent. It happens when the A/C is on or off and its p!$$!?% me off!!

But after all this it is still an awesome ride and its best to get all the stuff sorted out before its too late.

Thanks heaps everyone.

Isher, don't use anything but a genuine oil filter if your going to change the oil yourself. If the filter fails and the engine blows up and due to this, and trust me that is easy to find if it does, say seeya to the repair being covered under warranty.

I recently inspected a truck that had a massive engine failure because the bottom of the non genuine filter blew out, $22000 bucks later the truck was repaired but not under warranty !

just thought I'd add that I had the same drama had my 17 swapped with 18s of another car. Post delivery read of owners manual states that camber / castor settings had to be altered to suit 18s (dunno y) also the balance of the 18s were wrong (dunno y either.....didn't think they on car balancing if done could be so different) rang em up and they paid for the alignment no dramas Thank u BBF.

Back on the topic of 3000ks service I didn't get any paper work and I know the oil wasn't changed which I think is especially on a turbo performance car like this rather bad. I would like to believe that Ford would reconsider the 15000k period between just the 1st oil change. What happened to the days of using running in oil for a few thou then changing over to the good stuff????????

perhaps some1 from ford could tell us y this isn't done
