Posted 18/01/08 03:27 PM Share Posted 18/01/08 03:27 PM Hey guys, im in abit of a situation at the moment.I bought my sub for the upgrade, which is a dual 4 ohm 600w RMS Rockford Fosgate T1.Now I dont know what kind of amp I need to run it.Must I run the amp at 4 ohm or is there some special way the sub needs to be connected (series, parallel) to run different impediances (if that makes sense)?I was thinking of using an Alpine v12 amp to run the sub, has anyone had any experience with these amps?thanks in advance, jet. I made the mistake of buying a 4 ohm amp which kept cutting out (obviously) when the sub was wired as 2ohm. To run a sub like that your best bet is to get a monoblock (sub only amplifier) which will do 600w rms @ 2ohm. See here for wiring diagram on how to do 2 or 8ohm.http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161Buy you should find on the Rockford website similar info.Hope I could help. Also it will be able to hand 2xT112D4 at about 80-90% output per sub for future upgrade.threadThe Alpine M605 and the Alpine M650 will both be fine for running the T112D4 at 2Ohm. If money is an issue get the M650 as it is a bit cheaper. It is always better to have a bit more powerful amp then sub so you don’t strain the amp. Just so you don’t blow the sub or have the amp clip turn the gain down/ don’t play it fully up.
