It's good to see you finally got a shock that you are happy with John, I'll stop harrassing the parts boys about the R-Spec Shocks!

Great review aa...

Did the ride heights settle down after a period of time?

I see the above are about 10mm higher than my stock XR6T.

Nice write up. Unfortunately my reviewing/writing skills are not as great as yours, but I have a set of Bilstein shocks in my car too. Front sits 50mm lower on adjustable height coilovers with Eibach springs, and rear sits 60mm lower on king springs. For how low the car is, it handles GREAT. I can take bends in the road at much high speeds and its way more stable. Bumps are a lot more comfortable compared to standard suspension and I cannot fault it at all. Money well spent.

Here is a dodgy phone photo of the front setup:

hehe too much, over 2k for front and back coilovers and springs, but was well worth it. Looks low and handles like its on rails.

I'll get it done when I start working in the middle east again, mine definitely needs it done

Put a front 27mm bar on it and ditch the rear bar.......build up of understeer will be lessened. Front tyre life will be better also.

Just because a rear bar is fitted as std doesn't mean it always has to have one fitted. The bulk of high c of g weight is in the front, not the rear. Hence the front bar doing just about all the work in roll.

I'm sure the car would go back to it's original ride height as the gas in the Bilsteins is just there to displace the volume of the piston rod.

There isn't anywhere near enough pressure to hold up the weight of the car, I'm positive any increase would have come from the suspension being pulled apart and settled quickly.

Great 2008 review on the Bilstein Sport Shocks. It answers a lot of my questions before I upgrade the shocks on my standard G6ET with 80,000 klms. I am looking for better handling without extra stiffness or loss of comfort and your experience seems to be exactly that result. You posted that summary 4 years ago....were there any negatives with the Bilsteins after a few years ??
