EASTERN Adelaide residents flooded police with reports of gunshots last night, as two people in a backfiring car caused alarm across the suburbs.

Calls began coming in from residents in the Glen Osmond, Stonyfell, Wattle Park, Magill areas after loud bangs, were heard just after midnight.

Some time later, further reports came from residents in the Blackwood, Panorama, Lower Mitcham and Flagstaff Hill areas.

Police patrols tracked the source to an old Mazda carrying two people.

The car was stopped and defected by officers annoyed that the occupants had carried on driving and frightening residents.

First keybanger that I did, cleared out 18yrs worth of carbon buildup in the exhaust. Could not see a friggin thing behind me, big cloud of smoke covering a dual carriage road, was blood hilarious! So I kept on doing it and ended up dropping a cylinder after a few months of thrashing
