I don't really see how this would work.

The tune is going to have to be changed for all of the coolers. That then opens a can of worms up to differences in the tune. That will also drag out the process. I doubt it could all be done in a day.

Senna, I wouldn't be offering my car up to have a handful of different coolers bolted to it and then get stuck straight into power runs...

It could get very messy.

Is there such a thing as a test bench for intercoolers that will measure flow, pressure drop and inlet/outlet temps?

I'm no expert, but I would suspect the differences in tune would not be that great IF the coolers are in a similar league with similar flow characteristics. Please step in if you can definitively answer this one.

In the case of the proposed testing, I would certainly expect the tune to be deemed safe after each new cooler is bolted up before doing flat out power runs. In any case, we only have 2 coolers on offer at the moment so this could work in a day. perhaps if we can get 4, we can split it over 2 days? Maybe on different cars with similar power levels and mods?

I don't think there would be that much need to change the tune, the coolers aren't going to show that much difference in flow, so I can't see it leaning out too much, besides, if one cooler does lean the car out, I reckon that one would win!

My car is currently running around 14psi and making a tad over 300rwkw, so it should be able to warm up the coolers pretty well

tab, modern dynos have a meter for watching the air/fuel ratios these days, we can even show how much power the car puts out, and the amount of boost it is running!

Guys all you can go buy is the results other people & tuners have given. If you like the look of something and believe what other have said about it, then buy it.

There are coolers out there to suit all budgets, so that is another good way to choose!

This thread will end up going for 12 pages and then the pin will get pulled. 2 years later, same thread will pop up.
