All this expensive testing your proposing and you guys still prob won't buy a cooler.. nice

Yeah that's me, but its for the common good, this forum has given me a wealth of knowledge and enjoyment so why the hell not.

I do not see this test happening, but if it does, will it give a definitive result ? I doubt it.

If you want to test coolers, get x amount of cars with different brand coolers. Stick a temp probe on the cold side and another on the hot side.

Drive around a track/drags or wherever, just make sure it is fairly consistant and determin the heatloss average across each cooler.

This will tell you that x brand cooler COOLS the best. This is what I think most people are after. As to what power level each would support is subjective and more dependant on the power and how it is tuned rather than the cooler.

I can run 300rwkw through a stock cooler, or through a 1200hp one, the main difference is how well the larger cooler cools the inlet charge.

My bet is that most coolers are similar and will result in a minor difference.

Sorry Zap but I don’t agree here’s why

Example 1 Car running stock boost big cooler little variation across the core, as the intake temp is not drastically high compared to ambient and outlet temp

Example 2 Car running high boost big cooler high variation across the core as intake temp is high compared to ambient temp but is it more efficient ?

The amount of heat generated by both cars would be different, sure you can measure the difference between hot and cold side on the cooler, as a comparison. But the efficiency factor is not linear throughout the heat range.

In order for the comparison to work the cars must be with in a specific range in heat load on the coolers.

Gonna be bloody hard to do a test if we cannot even decide what to test or how. Excuse my ignorance as I really only have the vaugest idea of what a IC does, but is there not some kind of machine that could at high pressure blow hot gases IE air into one side and measurements be taken at the otherside. This would be equal for all IC's.
