Yes I’m sure after fitting three to five intercoolers in a day spending 45 minutes testing each one we should easy have enough time to set up witches hats along Barry street call the local boys in blue get the road close to the general public and start cutting laps, or we could hire Sandown race way at 2.5 k a day and do it there.

Testing the coolers will take on average of 2.5 hours each buy the time we remove and refit each one and test them correctly. This will be a big day. So a weekend is best suited. Start on a Saturday and if it blow over to the Sunday we would still get it all done.

yeah I think the track thing is a bit hard to achieve!

I agree with Simon and his ideas on testing and the car choice, we need to make sure the car in question has good reliability and it still has plenty of room for improvement in the engine and driveline, this will make everything more consistent

Im with you 100%

Would love to know if the new Nizpro bar & Plate cooler out performs the 1000hp Plazaman in my 380rwkw Nizpro stage II+ BF Typhoon application?

Awesome gesture of Simon @ Nizpro for donating his time and workshop :verysad:

Just before christmas I done some of my own street testing on the new nizpro cooler in comparison to my current nizpro cooler (thanks robin/xlnt6).

Previously there wasn't many coolers which rivaled the nizpro cooler I originally purchased, (like the aps cooler) in terms of air temp.

To say the least, only yesterday I purchased the new nizpro cooler given the conclusion I come up with testing on robins car.

I will say a lot of people will be surprised with the results of some coolers which look like they will work, and coolers that look lacking but yield good results.

Btw, who said I qas a bbq man? Lies!

Also I agree that the state of the tune remained untouched for each cooler, but pull say like 1psi out, and 2 degrees timing out, rather than having timing running on edge.

that way, we will be able to

1) see the boost difference of each intercooler and graph it over the dyno run. both before the cooler and final at plenum (simon I'm assuming u have both map sensors for the dyno?)

2) log air temp via obd and graph it also on the dyno graph over the dyno run

3) be able to see power differences between each cooler without touching tune based on flow and temp.

As for testing procedure, this will need to be agreed on for each test.

What I suggest initially is, after intercooler is setup, let it start up and cruise at 60km/h for 5 minutes on the dyno (to get everything upto operating temp).

Then do a initial power run, after run, let it idle whilst the data gets saved in dyno, for say a period of 30 seconds, and the immediately run it up again, and then repeat a 3rd time. I've always noticed some coolers cannot take 2 or 3 consecutive runs, and it will give a nice inidcation of how a cooler handles heat soak..

And then finally maybe give it a 4th power run after say a 2 minute cruise time at 60km/h to see its recovery rate..

Also document physical temps of the cooler top vs bottom.

Also I suggest we run with the front bar replaced back onto the car, rather than leave bar off to save time in intercooler changed

Doiing a test like this we are able to compare each run vs each cooler on a 1st 2nd and 3rd run bases, and also see which cooler prevents heat soak and which doesn't.

Anyways, open to suggestions

Good points there Danny.

Replicating real world driving conditions would make for a more realistic result, letting poeple see how the car reacts to different styles and IC set ups.

I will have my car on the day, with full IC kit set up for display.

After the testing is over, Im happy to let poeple test drive my car if they are interested in my gear.

I also offer this to any forum guys that are considering my gear and live in Sydney.

Try befor you buy. :innocent:

I agree, the bar should be put back in place to give best indications of real world results, it need not be properly fastened, even just the single top screw in each wheel arch to hold it in place.

without the bar, it might flatter some cooler types over others? (bottom to bottom feed, versus bottom to top feed.

Yes Danny we can make a math channel with the two map sensors and display the difference in either % or numbers.

Can I personally just say that if this test does happen in Melbourne I will definetly be there.

I may even pay an admission fee just to see the results because in the long run its going to save me money.

Any further posts will only be related to organising the logistics of this testing otherwise they'll be deleted.

It's taken allot of trauma for all parties to get it to this point. We are not going to let it get derailed again.

Sorry.
