Cooler Comparison

what esactly will the comparison show results for? Cooling properties, flow properties, value for money? all of these?

That there all that 'close' it wont make an iota of a difference to the plebs on the street.....

'close' - as in relative to the general punter off the street, not somebody with a megabuck qrt queen hole shotting for the moon.....

Couldn't agree more but if they're close in terms of performance, and quite a bit apart in terms of price, that will make a difference to the average punter.

Besides that, it will put the theories to bed and bring some reality to the matter. And a manufacturer willing to backing their product - awesome.

Close in temp is not the end of it.Pressure drop is important as the less drop with the best cooling allows the turbo not to have to work as hard this then help exhaust temp as well. The quality of the kit and pipe work also needs to be looked at no point having a cooler that works great that the pipe work rubs the bonnet and the hose's blow off all the time. Correct fitting with the least amont of body work modifaction is important as some of us want to return our cars to standard when we trade them in. A great cooler is one thing but I dont care how good or cheap it is if you end up looking like a vl Late model camira with the intercooler hanging out the the grille and pipe work that looks like it was designed at a Bunnings store

Ideally yes, but in reality I don't think it will mean much.

Whoever comes off second best will just make a change to the cooler and claim it's considerably improved performance.

What will you do then? Have another test?

you just buy what you feel is good, looks nice, is within budget. You will be happy no matter what some test says.

I dont think people should be critical of RAP1D or plazmaman. if they can't make it/dont want to go, it doesnt matter!

It's not the idea of a 'face off' that wont make them attend it's the 'oppurtunity cost' of actually putting down the tools (stop making products = stop making money) to attend an event that might not sell them any more or any less coolers, intakes etc that will make them not attend.

Actually I tend to agree with you SCRIBR.

Whats more I believe that results will vary depending on which kits are used from vendor to vendor and how they are set up.

Blah blah blah blah. This will go ahead with at least 2 of the big guns involved. This will prove how the cooler being tested performs and people can then make a decision based on performance and price. It's as simple as that. If manufacturers are a know show, people can make of that what they will.

Hypothetically, if this was conducted before I made my purchase and it came out that say Plazmaman's cooler performed better than the one I purchased (Nizpro) where charge air temps were bettered by say 16c after 3 runs, then I wouldn't of bought the Nizpro cooler at all. So then the test would have been worth while right?
