Capsicum Spray At The Tennis

But like I have stated we are not police officers so our opinions are rather uneducated. I wouldn't mind hearing from a police officer about this matter if there happens to be one on our forum. I have a close friend who just became a copper, I'm sure her response will be "text book" as her acadamy tarining should still be fresh in her mind. Ill be sure to ask her tonight.

I to would like an explanation or at least a point of view from a VIC copper, unfortunately any coppers that do frequent end up leaving due to being harrased. I hope if any are reading that this thread does not contribute, but I have tried to keep it as emotionally unbiased as I could and direct my critisim to the two officers that were seen spraying and walking away.

The 2 guys should have listened to the cops in the first place, that's for sure, but from what I've read the spray should have been after sone sort of physical threat.. Self defence...

Secondly I know what its like as I have 2 cans of it in my room, and have copped a spray before not direct in the face but close enough yes it stings but its not that bad.

and third, I know I couldnt be a copper so I agree with you there.

All im saying is that you carry on like the copper shot the guy id like to see what you would do if you had a can of "capsicum spray" in the same situation.

So you say try and talk your way out of it hey, what if that dosnt work, maybe the cop is good at his job and relised that it was about to get out of hand and beat the guy to the punch by spraying him.

My argument is with the cowardly way it was done by police officers somewhat detached from the negotiations, personally I dont believe in capsicum spray, it takes to long to work on a wound up violent offender and that offender can do a lot of damage before capsicum starts to incapacitate, I believe that Tasers are a much better non letahl form of deesculating a situation if required and justified.
