man use the wiki...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_oil

personally, I use 100% ester oil in my turbo car (motul) im pretty sure royal purple is ester too?. Why do I spend the dollars? because the oil runs thru the turbo which gets VERY hot if you really give it a hard time like I do. gees, I gotta get a photo of the turbo/maifold/DP glowing BRIGHT one day... its like someone stuck a neon under the bonnet when ya pop the hood lol ..... The ester oil can handle MUCH higher temps than a PAO synthetic and have 0% shear loss.

if your not gonna drive it hard though, dont waste your money on the ester oil, a PAO is plenty fine...

Hey Nick, do you know what Mobil 1 is? Is it ester? that's what ive been running. I doubt I really need anything better though due to my nana spec driving.

Anyone used an oil that was BAD for their car?

Yeah all these replies and not one negative about any of the major oils. I just use a full synthetic and penrite it was last time. I did hear of this royal purple for the first time only yesterday when I saw it in a mates shop.

And who wanted the glowing turbo pic?
