Have you checked the fuel consumption manually?

Fill her up, go for a drive. Fill her up, note how much fuel you've used then divide that by the K's travelled.

I have just driven my Auto T sedan to Swan Hill and return from Melbourne. (average outside temp 15deg. I took it easy and just sat on 102km/h all the way there and back. It was a 600KM round trip and the trip comuter returned a 10.4l/100K average. I filled her up and put 62l in it for 600KM. That is the best I have done in it. Mine has done 9300km so far. I am hoping synthetic oil at thw 15000km service may help and make it better. I am planing the big lap later this year (Up the centre and then around the west and back across to Melbourne. I plan on towing a van andam looking for the best way to get the best economy out of it. I am thinking of pricing a second tank in the boot (spare wheel well maybe?) or getting a BA XR8 diff centre to reduce the revs at 100km/h.. Not sure of the cost of these 2 options yet though.. Early days..

Anyway. I am fairly happy with the econ of the BA XR6T at present. Lets face it..It is a performace car after all and that is what you get with pushing 1800kg aronud...

Doing a big trip like that bdennis you might consider putting a site sticker on your caravan and car, spread the word my son :D

It'll be good to see another T in the West, have a good trip.

Silverhawk, Thanks for that. The car has one. Hmm. May need to put one on the van...

I know the old AUII VCT XR6 I could get about 350/400km out of the 68l. It will be interesting to see what the T gets. I need to do a few test drives first to see how she goes..

the more you carry, more juice you use ....

BD, I reckon a couple of 20L containers to the roof of the van would be better, and another tyre while you are there

the 3.23 idea has theoritical merit, but the auto is suited to the higher ratio and with the towing maybe I'd go the other way ... 3.7 maybe

the aerodynamics of the car & van is the one that will cost you ... I'd be worken on that one

cheers mate, cya Saturday

I would certainly not recommend a taller diff for towing a van around - your revs may drop a little but your throttle position will be wider open and you'll be working with a lower manifold vacuum so you will ineviatably suffer in the fuel economy stakes.

Hey wesa182, have you reset the average fuel economy on the trip computer? Unless you do this, it will take ages for any changes in fuel economy to become evident.
