On the way home the Amp was cutting out, installer said oh,you need a cap, its drawing too much. Another $200, another 2 kms down the road, cuts out. Long story of back and forth's, might be this, might be that, I ended up chatting to the boys over at mobileelectronics, it was found that the 4 ohm sub, was wired in 2ohm configuration which the amp they sold me doesn't support. Wired to 8 ohm, problem solved, no more drop outs. Now the sub never sounded good, on fast beat songs, it would buzz. Buzz like it had a hole in it. Slow short bursts sounded ok. I wasn't going back to the installer after 1.5 months of them trying to get a simple install right I just put up with it.Finally got around to looking at it now and the first issue became obvious. Giant box for 2 subs, but with only 1 sub, removedsub, found no separator. Sub needs 35 litres (from the book), but had 63 litres. I added an interior wall to make the volume correct, put it all back together but still buzzzzzes.I can only assume the wrong size box for so long has damaged the Sub. The amp runs the front splits which work great so I assume it's fine.Long story (sorry) short, where's a decent place I can take it to that someone can tell me straight up whats the issue and go from there? I'm located around browns plains on the south side. Thanks for reading my ramblings.Josh Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41648-sub-buzzzzzzing/ Share on other sites

Pulled me finger and ripped the sub out tihs arvo, oh yeh its shagged. The glue that holds the sub speaker to the steel surrounds has completely come off. Hence the buzz is the cone being able go alllll the way out then slap back into the steel surrounds. New sub for me. I've heard a paper cone sub buzzing before, but not a polypropylene one!but yeh, these days (assuming the amp and cabling is good???) you can pick up a new 12" sub for like $80 with a decent brand name. I got two kenwood 12" 900w's (from memory) for like $170. and if you've already got the box sorted, just do it man, or if not build your own or grab one from strathfield et al for roughly $50Dan Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41648-sub-buzzzzzzing/#findComment-621468 Share on other sites

JL audio stuff is quite good, and your amp is one of alpine's high end products. When you spoke with mobile electronics did they specify any bottlenecks with your setup, etc? If you have some mates with a 12'' sub in their car swap it out and test, is the sub bridged correctly to the amp if at all? If your mates subs sound sh*t, its the amp or how they installed it. If it sounds OK, put your sub in their car, and test. Narrow it down one at a time and eventually you'll find a solution. If you find the sub is still buzzing in your mates car and the sub is under warranty, take it back to the installer and demand they replace it, either that or purchase another set of subs. Clarion make good 12's at a good price and I was even surprised when I installed 2 x Sony Xplod 12" subs in robs xr6t, those things boooom, and are cheap also.Cheers mate, good luck with it. The guy I went to reglued it and now it works like a treat. I'm still not happy with the quality of sound through the car but the bass side of things sounds a million times better. Great fella to deal with, would recommend to anyone who wants to get their subs or speakers fixed. He also repairs holes/rips in the actual cone.See http://www.qsr.net.au/index.php"Queensland Speaker Repair" Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41648-sub-buzzzzzzing/#findComment-632336 Share on other sites
