Listen its is all about changing perception, when I was growing up, my old man drove drunk and never wore a seatbelt, both were illegal but not as frowned upon like it is today, oh yeah no one ever wore bicycle helmets either. So Hooning is the next thing in the spotlight, it may take 5 to 7 years but it will be systematically enforced until the general population will no longer accept it.

NT has lost open speed limits, we all knew it would happen, in 5 years it also will be widely accepted. I guess we have to make enouh money so we can indulge our passion of speed, and take it to the track.

RIP HOONING

Scotty

Still waiting for one of these to end up being challenged under the "entrapment" consideration.... in the mean time, it appears that the "hoodlums" will have some issues to deal with. Hence we see massive get togethers like saturday nights turn out at Broadwater being targeted.....

Courier Mail:

HOONS did burnouts in front of shocked police who impounded seven cars during a weekend traffic blitz conducted at the Gold Coast.

During the crackdown almost a third of drivers pulled over were arrested or issued with traffic infringement notices.

The blitz, dubbed Operation Trap Door, targeted known hoon hotspot the Southport Broadwater car park and major roads including the M1.

Southport police station officer-in-charge Scott Bolitho said police were stunned and dismayed by some driver behaviour, especially during rain on last night and early this morning.

Some car enthusiasts leaving the Broadwater car park thumbed their noses at the large police presence by fishtailing their vehicles and doing burnouts.

``That's just remarkable,'' Acting Senior Sergeant Bolitho said. ``If they're doing that in front of police, then what are they doing when police aren't there? There's no doubt there's a band of younger drivers that just don't seem to heed road rules and regulations, even in front of police.''

One motorist was pulled over on the M1 at Helensvale travelling at 160km/h - a speed Sen-Sgt Bolitho described as 'death on wheels'.

Another motorist was stopped at Ashmore doing 113km/h in a 60km/h zone.

All up, police pulled over more than 370 drivers and issued 113 infringement notices. Five motorists caught in the blitz risk having their cars confiscated under new legislation.

The law allows vehicles to be seized from second-time offenders caught driving unlicensed or unregistered, with illegally modified or seriously defective vehicles or for high-range drink-driving.

Four people were charged with drink-driving - the worst with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.149 per cent.

~snip~

when there are so many fantastic track days and friday night drags to do it legaly.

im not sure that there is even a skid pan in WA!!!!

and going to the track costs a fortune, either in fuel to get there (collie) or in cams fees (barbs).

while swinging nuts in full intersections and doing 250kph in peak hour traffic is most definatly a hoon ticket worthy offence, is doing 140 on the freeway at 3am with a car next to you?

I find this quote amusing,I know the limit is 110, but the m1 is a great road and they could easily increase that limit and follow in germany's footsteps.

we all know they won't cause its a big money spinner with all the speed camera's along that road.

I think the Coppers have a fair point with "hoons" exceeding the speed limit in such a fashion in the wet , farking imbeciles :ermm:

For context I was driving home from the central coast last night after/during some rain and you have to super careful, as it did not take much

to have the arse of the car twitching with a little blip of the throttle going up some of the steeper hills and this was not 50+kmph over the posted limit :buttonit:

I missed that line, sorry :buttonit:

I also believe in driving to the conditions.

I agree with you that stretch of road could easily accomodate , say a 130kph limit in the dry.

Keep left and you would not even have to change lanes :ermm:

I dont think tearing away from the lights upto 10k's over the limit is as bad as some old fart in a Pulsar pulling out infront of me when I am doing 80.

They are really harping on about hooning as it is deemed as unsafe blah blah blah.

I find it amazing when I am sitting at the lights and a women and her 3 kids are in a minivan next to me and the tyres are bald.

Cops would NEVER pull a car like that over but is more of a death trap than a loud exhaust or a lowered car.

Have a look next time you are stopped at the lights.

You will be amazed at how many regular cars are running bald tyres.
