There a good little car mate, bloody indestructible. I'd look for one with as low kays as possible and just get a RACV check for 160ish. Oh and I wouldn't pay over 2k either. Hope that helps.

id definately recommend the fuel injection models (Ghia, Tx3). Not only do they come with more power/better fuel economy but they have the extras like air con and central locking etc. If your looking for more of a sedan look I'd go the Kf/KH ('90 to '93). Check for usual stuff like oil leaks etc. If you are looking for creature comfort then go the Ghia. U can get later model Lasers for cheap these days. your average KF/KH Laser goes for around $2.5k in really good nic. If your a mechanical minded guy then get the KH Tx3 as there the twin cam BP. Good zippy and great on fuel, and the resale on parts is good enough to get some dosh back when your over it. =)

If u want more info im happy to help, just drop me a PM. Or pop over to the ford laser forums. www.fordlaser.com and the guys over there will help you out.

Edit: Something to read, u should be able to view it as a guest. Hope that helps!!

went to take a look at one today for $900

it wouldn't start, mechanically minded cousin fixed it on the spot , moist dizzy and breather hoses were of , after that it started first go, bit of smoke puffed out of the zorst but not to much

I went to drive it and this was down a hill we noticed the tyres were flat flat touching rim

I went to hit the handbrake it wasnt connected, foot brake didnt work so I just feinted into the turn and went up a hill and some how got it back,

bloody hell I was shoken up and to top it of no oil was in the engine as well I cheeked the dip stick not 1 drop , I was going to buy it and drive it home in that state but first fill it up with some 30/60 or thicker oil so that it doesn't leak due to old oil on road was thin as water,

I got it down from $900 to $250 but nah scary as

I thought these things were economical I was left foot braking while in 1st keeping the revs up etc and could see the fuel go down on the gauge from 1/8 to bone dry , but then again this thing was thrashed to death more not maintained

hahahaha nice. What year model was it etc etc. They are economical, but if they have been cained or are on there last legs, then its not going to be very economical... lo

Good Luck with it. =)

I didnt buy it,

was a 87 model 4 door I can get it for $250, but the engine has got a massive leak in it lost all the oil not 1 drop on the dip stock, the oil on the ground seemed as thin as water, so mite just have totaly lost its vilosity and leaked through the old gasket?, plus I was reving it out hard in 1st through the "hilly" roads seemed quite weak the car compared to the T but I got the hang of left foot braking to keep revs up on the 1st go

im going to maybe look at a 91 model barina tomorrow , the ad says 1.4K but the guy said its now 1K ONO so will go with $700 cash , I swear it better not be anther boganmobile just like that laser were it had flat tyres and no oil in engine

What do you expect in that price range? You'd be very lucky to come across something that's roadworthy and in fair condition.

Ive got a KE laser, they go forever.

The only thing id be careful of, is cracked heads can be common. Ours had one, didnt cost a great deal to fix, but still a hassle.
