Not the smartest thing to do in a brand new car you should have run the engine in first.....you can always nail him later and I wouldn't be putting 1 mod on your car until this issue is sorted as you need new rings by the sound of it and this time run the engine in.We never used a drop between oil changes and 99% of us phoon owners ran the engine in first.Far out ... you've done absolutely nothing wrong bloke!Demand an oil consumption & compression test be done to resolve the issue prior to any mods.If the Dealer is unhelpful call 1300FORD and inform them of the issue ... you must get this issue resolved BEFORE you do any mods otherwise you void you warantee!Good luck

Most ford dealers will tell you the powertrain warranty will be void if you mod the car but you can only ask.

I hope he gets it repaired asap at no cost to himself but run the engine in first then rip into it.

The only difference between the T and the Phoon in this regard would be the semi-synthetic vs synthetic oil

Rings dont just wear out that quickly, unless theres no oil in it at all.Run in dictates that you drive in with "purpose", maybe not smokin it up, but certainly in the 3-5000rpm range. This should not affect it drinking oil like this.Driving like miss daisy will affect the run in worse, but even then shouldn't result in them being shot.I think you need to have a full check on compression, with and without oil in the cylinder, that will see how well it seals. take it back and get it fully investigated - god bad or ugly runin in doesn't matter a pinch - either way - it's a Warranty issue. I checked the oil after 1000 km's and guess what...there was none. There was also no leaks so and the oil didn't appear to be burnt but it went somewhere?!! I drove it to ford with what appeared no oil and when I got there and they filled it up... it had 3 lt left. Ford did a oil consumption test which was basically drive it and come back after 1000km's and they check the level. It used 8 litres in 3000 km's. Ford said they would replace the engine at 10,000 km's but it was using so much they ended up replacing it at 3,000 km's. I was dealing with Centre Ford in WA and they said it was the 2nd in Australia at the time that had this problem. The engine was sent back and inspected by ford for the cause but I never followed up on this. Anyways I had no problems with warranty and I really do hope you have the same outcome as me. There is obviously a problem so make sure you get a new engine and try different dealers or go direct to ford Australia. I'm happy to help where I can so feel free to PM me if you need help as I could find out more from Centre Ford.Dont mod anything until your situation is resolved and you're happy with the outcome. Cheers.
