you could get one of those electronic turbos and you could hide that in glovebox as it only needs two wires to work but if I was you I would get a turbo badge on my non turbo car so when the cops pull you over you can tell em you hid the turbo and they will spend ages looking for it so they can fine you for it

That is a great idea. wish I thought of it.... :spoton:

I think this would have worked in the good old days, but I am sure a highway patrol that knows his stuff will be able to pick the intercooler.

Ozzie

I had an HWP officer near Singleton try and defect me in my last Phoon for a stock intercooler.APS exhaust didn't raise an eyebrow, nor did the HoresePowerFactory sticker across the windscreen Go figure

yeah sorry for the idiocy of my post, now I no

it was due to the license, stupid Victoria just got a new set of rules banning turbo cars, which is really a shame, ill just stick to an n/a like almost all of you pointed out haha

thanks for the help anyways, ill just wait the 4 years until I can drive one legally :spoton:

oh yeh and I lose demerit points and I think they can confiscate the car off me, not to mention the fines of it :roflmbo:

only 3 years if u get your p's before July 1st this year bro..

how old are u?

as stated above, stick with the n/a for a while.. my mate just got his p's and he drives a VX Acclaim with 17's, he got a punctured tire and had the spare on one side. The next day he got pulled over twice for the "burnout wheel"

Things are getting pretty crazy in Melb :spoton: not worth the risk.

Funny story,

When I was going out with my wife in the early days I had a suziki alto (700cc engine), copper pulled me over for a random breath test near Harry's at the X... this guy was a highway patrol (he must of had a quiet night). Did the breath test, no probs. He said stay in the car, as he walked around the car twice trying to pick something to defect. He came to my window again an looked at the back wheels and said "You haven't been doing burnouts have you son????". I paused and almost could not contain my laughter before stating "no sorry Officer, and this is a front wheel drive car...."

He let me off....

Ozzie

this really aint so crazy.

it does loose the heat energy from the engine but the underbonnet temps are greatly reduced by having a remote mount turbo. :wtf:

OK SEEMS THIS HAPPENS IN THE US of A, JUST TODAY I WAS WATCHING YANK TV SHOW RIDES (SEASON 4 DISK 5, SECOND EPISODE) WELL THEY WHERE "CUSTOMIZING" A NEW HHR CHEV SUV THING... (IM GETTING TO THE POINT) AND 1 OF THE TEAMS FOUND THAT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THE ENGINE BAY TO FIT A TURBO.... SO THEY CUT THE REAR MUFFLER AND DID EXACTLY WHATS IN THE PICS..... FROM PAGE 1 OF THE POSTS.... 2 OF THE OTHER TEAMS PUT LS6 V8'S IN THEM BUT HAY.....

SO THERE YOU GO.

Over here in WA a dude got a N/A XR and had the turbo installed under the car towards the rear. Induction piping is lengthy though. Also you will always have an intercooler on display so keep this in mind.

got a solution for that...

think about the rex's, don't they have top mount intercoolers under the hood? with a bonnet scoop for extra air-grabbieness??

why don't the folks who want to relocate the turbo simply... relocate the intercooler as well... maybe to the sunroof position??? or installed in the boot lid???
