Does anyone here know if there is some reason a battery would be dead after only a year in a phoon?

I have only been driving it once every two weeks for the last 6weeks.

if anyone would be able to help me on this issue it would be great!

Thanks

josh

Just built ford tuff :msm:

Replaced mine about a week ago after 14 months in service....I have a suspicion that the auto lights are causing it, as in the extra drain on the battery while the engine isn't running and starting. Probably not much of a theory but it's the only thing I can think of :idunno:

And Ford has a timer built in to them.....they usually last more than 12 months and 1 day

ok.. raphoon had this in his typhoon months and months ago... he went and got the battery tested and it was fine... he then started the car with a different battery.. replaced the original while it was running and it has been working fine ever since.

I laughed at this until I went to start the wifes T a month b4 xmas... same thing... so I took the battery out of the ute.. started the sedan with the utes battery.. replaced the original battery while car was running and it has been fine ever since.

dont know what caused it in our cars and dont know if its your problem ..but its worth a shot

Could be on to something there - RACQ dude hooked up the jumper leads and started mine, disconnected the leads and it re-started a few times without any dramas. Tested it and said it was borderline but should be OK, but I had my couldn't be f'ed hat on and got him to replace it to save stuffing around.

Could have been the same scenario

....oh and not sure that running these things without a battery is a real good idea :idunno:

Mine went after about 6 months, in a phoon.

Apparently the batteries are mass produced and sit on the shelf for some time before being put into our vehicles. All of a sudden they will just go, no cranking amps. May still show 12 volts on a multimeter until you actually crank it.

I had it replaced with a better type of battery under warranty by using roadside assistance from FPV (aka RACQ).

Hope that helps!

Rob.

It's happened 3 times now.

Twice after the 9 month sit during the fist fwits scenario....

Time for a new one.

Well the full story about my battery....

I'm overseas at the moment and my girlfriend has been starting the car every now and then and taking it for a small drive.

She heard a cricket noise coming from the bonnet then she tryed starting the car, car wouldnt start.

She then called the RACQ guys from the FPV booklet.

They tested the battery and started the car using jumper leads.

Car started! RACQ dude told my G/F to take the car for a drive and see how it goes.

The guy next door told her to take it to ford to see if something was draining the battery as it was only a year old. She did the next day they said alternator was doing its job and nothing was draining the battery. but the battery was dead.

RACQ dude came out and charged $280 to change with new one :( Ripped
