My dad owns a BA XR8 and I have a BF XR6T. Having driven both I love the ability of the 8 to 'hang' the rear out (in my driveway of course) with ease, they have the torque that's for sure. You can still do the same in the 'T' by keeping it on boost. The XR6 feels a little more nimble and feels like a smaller car to drive. I think the main diff is the fuel economy. With my dad chugging around in his 8, cant manage any better than 14L/100km. However in my 6T, im consistantly getting 11l/100km and that's giving it the boot here and there.

I find the quickest way to get the car off the lights is half-to-3/4 throttle untill 2700-2900 rpm then floor it, which seems to go sh*te loads faster than just planting it from a standstill...I remember someone telling me the ECU can pull back the power when you do that to save the driveline...

UPDATE: BLACK 2004 XR6T WITH LEATHER TEST DRIVE

After being blown away by the 8 I decided I would give the T a decent thrashing and see what it really had.

This test drive was done through the hills in a premium leather xr6t with 66,000k's.

Unlike the first T I drove I spent the majority of the test using the performance mode, mostly in 1st and 2nd gear, this time with ALL windows down.

This won't be a long winded review as I believe I know where the perception of speed comes from driving the two: the engine/exhaust notes.

In terms of sound the T I perceived as being tame and reserved while the 8 is just menacing. Sound I felt was the biggest contributing factor in your perception of how fast and urgent the two different cars felt.

So I walked away today feeling quiet dissapointed at the T's exhaust note. It's just not loud enough.

Now I'm in quiet the predicament, as I've had my mind set on a T for so long but absoloutly love the sound and urgency of the V8.

In standard form there is not much between them, the T being a bit better alround except the exhaust note. If your happy with the performance of the 8 and you dont think you will want more power down the track then the 8 is for you. If you think you will want more power the answer is simple, go the T.

Funnily enough driving the 8 I felt as if it had more then enough power. In the T though I felt as I was wanting it to go faster and faster because it just didn't feel fast enough, which to my perception came down to the overall engine/exhaust note.

I think I will stick with getting a T and seriously upgrade the exhaust. As much as the 8 put a smile on my face and made me weak at the knees, the stock T is quicker by a nose hair(on paper), but can be made to go alot quicker for cheaper in the long term.

My first perception of the T was in a BF MK2 06 with ZF and the thing was a weapon.

So far I've been lucky enough to drive 2 xr8's and 2 xr6t's. The xr8's had a 4 speed auto and a 6 speed manual. The xr6t's had the 6 speed manual and a 6 speed ZF semi auto (this one is mine).

Out of all of them, the ZF kicked me back in the seat the hardest and felt the easiest to drive. The 6 speed manuals felt very busy city driving, like I always had to change gear every few seconds and didn't seem to get the power down as hard in each gear. the manuals felt very strong but also changing gears felt 'tough' like I had to jam it into gear. The 4 spd xr8 had a generic tune on it and it felt more aggressive than when it was stoc but it still didn't seem to compare to the T even when the T was stock

Recently though I had my car Dyno tuned and it came in at 226rwkw which I was told was about 15-20kw more than stock, so this probably explains why I was so excited straight up about the T. Taking it down to the track it ran a 13.7 stock and I am yet to hear of an XR8 run this fast stock but im happy to be proven wrong. I have however heard of a few BF's running 13.7 and 13.8 stock so I dunno maybe they are over-tuning the BF's slightly from factory *shrugs*

The T's felt more nimble, lighter and was far better on fuel economy

Recently I got a tune put into the car which brought it up to 260rwkw and I am only starting to see the potential in these cars. 2nd and 3rd gear are weapons and the turbo and especially the exhaust note sounds completely different and very tough!

If you just sit there at the lights and take off with no stalling up, the Ts feel really sluggish off the mark. When they get boost different story.

I drove a stock XR6T, felt like a stock 6 but it kept pulling and pulling as revs rise, very linear, almost unlike a turbo. The modded T, very different, sluggish takeoff (with no stall) but when boost comes on, its like someone whacks you in the back of the head with a cricket bat. Stall it up off the mark (spool it up) and you will need some bloody good tyres to get away.

I can see his point though. If someone steps into a T for the very first time and doesnt spool up the turbo, it can be a bit of a let down. they say maximum torque from 2000rpm, I reckon its rubbish.
