My standard XR6T 03 4 spd felt like a big rubber band. I knew this however and didnt expect much. Get a tune done and you will be more impressed. I opted for springs, injectors etc and went straight to 290 rwkw. However the biggest thing for me was having the 4 spd pressures raised and harder shifts. Transforms the car in my opinion.

Hey RSK if your anywhere near rockhampton queensland I will take you for a run I dont have 300rwkw but enough to give you a good idea. My rig still steps out on boost in 3rd.

Thanks for the kind offer guys. :ermm: I'm in Adelaide S.A. Stepping out in 3rd is more what I'm talking about! I would be happy if it would be stepping out in 2nd gear, or even getting a slight tyre chirp/squeek, but alas, nothing! May have been the fact it was almost 40 here today and there were 3 people in the car. :welcome2:

What are your previous rides? Turbo? They are not the fastest things in the world but they are turbo'd so smashing the loud pedal to the floor before you get it on boost will make it feel even more slugish.

RSK, if you test drove a stockie auto mate this is the impression you would get. Reason is these are production cars and have to be built for longevity. If you launched and hit 0-100 in 4 sec with stock internals your engine would be on the road before too long.

If you want a quick launch buy yourself a rex and do your 4000rpm dumps that will give you the hit your after. The XR6T with mods and a tune get moving a whole lot faster but quick take offs that's limited to light cars with big power.

In the long run very few things will catch a modded XR6T as these guys will tell you.

Get edit alone with custom tune and you'll have it step out sideways going into 2nd gear.

I don't know why, but my car doesn't "step out" in a major way, I mean, the car has plenty of power, that's been proven on the street, and once on full boost in 1st it just spins, 2nd is a little bit of spinnage, but it never "steps out" - maybe the way the tune is, maybe cos I run low tyre pressure (probably this)

My car is generally well behaved as well. However the last time I was at the drags I had wheelspin all the way thru 1st gear & then a BIG sideways moment when I snicked 2nd.

Think I'll put some better rubber on the back before I try again.

I found the first time I drove mine that it didn't feel as fast as I expeced but looking down at the speedo proved that we were hauling arse.

My old EL Fairmont 6cyl used to spin the wheel (Yep just one) away from the lights if you stalled it up a bit but the Turbo with the wider better rubber doesn't which was dissapointing.

It just feels slow upto about 30-40kph and before you know it, it kicks into second and you are doing 100 easy.

Now above 100 is something again as it just overtakes with so much ease and you can go to jail speeds very fast.

There are a few members from S.A. with modded T's that I am sure will take you for a spin to feel what 300+rwkw feels like.

If you want the punch from the lights however maybe a WRX or EVO is better suited to you.

Cheers

James
