hey been looking around at posts for the maximum a certain part is good for in terms of rwkw. Found a few good indications, but I thought id get all the figures in the one thread.

so my question is what are the following parts good for (in maximum rwkw terms), approximately:

more directly the car would be a BA Mk II Turbo, 6 Speed Manual.

Valve Springs

Injectors

Dump Pipe + Cat

Intercooler

Clutch

Thanks!

Good for NO rwkw without a retune. But with a good custom tune should make 300rwkw no prob. All depends on parts 'brands, type' pretty broad range there.

Dude im lost........................there are heaps of different brands and styles out there, to say

intercooler 30rwkw

injectors 25rwkw

ect,ect..........would be wrong................................

as you would need to state brand, style as in monza intercooler or process west stage 2, and bosch 44lb injectors or siemens 60lb so on. if im still wrong I wont post again. Or do you want max figures using the BEST parts?????????????????????

Valve Springs anywhere from 240rwkw they will need doing, but the later motors have better springs.

Injectors no more than 250rwkw (safely)

Dump Pipe + Cat up to 300rwkw

Intercooler stock XR one should be replaced for any increase in boost

Clutch not much more than stock. The limit would be 250rwkw before it slips

thanks for that, pretty much what I thought. but valve springs, alot of people with BA Mk II's have stock springs upto 300-350rwkw? is it only rare that they are running at 100% at 240rwkw?

You'll probably find that BF mk2 valve springs might be ableto run up around 300-350, but they should be replaced anyway, as they will start to fail eventually, Nizpro or Atomic valve springs are the ones to use.

If you want to go over 300rwkw, don't try and find the limits of these things, as things can turn ugly when the go bang. Prevention is the best cure!

Also, if you're heading towards 300 and over in a BA mk2 set aside some cash for a rebuild, 290 - 300 seems to be the limit of the stock rods

Good luck mate :spit:

The first BA's seemed to have valve springs that would not cope with much over stock. This is where I got the 240rwkw figure from.

The BA II would be dependant on what month it was made in. I believe that anything after 07/05 has the better motor in it. This has stronger rods and springs and is essentially a F6 long motor.

You list did not include very important things like:

Fuel system = over 260rwkw should include a better fuel pump over 330rwkw you should look at a swirlpot

Gearboxes - Manual seem to be good up to 350rwkw, autos (4sp) anything over 250rwkw will need line pressure and above that you should have it streagthened. (6sp) is still unknown, but I would expect 300rwkw would be the limit without work.

Brakes = stock brakes should be replaced if ANY power level is increased
