Well I had some spare time so I thought I would paint my brake

calipers as I think it sets the car off nicely.

Easy to do:

1. Buy brake caliper spray paint from auto shop.

2. Remove wheels and clean calipers thoutoghly.

3. Wait until calipers are nice and dry.

4. Mask up the caliper with newspaper or plastic bags.

5. Spray on one thin coat.

6. Wait 10 minutes.

7. Spray on a nice even coat.

8. Wait 15 minutes.

9 . Step 7 & 8 are to be done three times all up.

10. Remove masking

11. Replace wheels (you may do a wheel rotation).

Done!

Choose a day that's dry & not too windy.

Here is the finished product, and also what look I hope to

achieve once I can find some place to put my white BFII GT

stripes on for me (in Melbourne's Sth East)...

Jake.

I wanna do the same to mine one day. Anyone got any pics of a mercury silver car with red calipers?

Also, any reason why the dust cover is still on the brakes.. does it actually help reduce the dust a lot?

It does look better without the dust covers, however I thought that they must be called

dust covers for a reason... I suppose you could take them off, and if its too dusty put

them back on again.

Jake did you take the calipers right off or just mask them up. I wanna do mine but it looks like a big job to do it properly.

its prett easy to take them off dillon, or if you couldn't be bothered, just use alot of old news paper, and wrap everything in it, then secure with tape, its a lot quicker this way! der..

I've decided on me rims so I wanna get it done before they go on, and I think it would look pretty good on a red T. Caliper paints special cause of it heat resistance yeah? Could it be used in the engine bay too you think?

probably, but you can always get a can of engine enamel from repco or where-ever, just to be safe.

If you take the calipers off, as our06t said, you might as well flush the brake fluid, always a good idea, but you'll probably need a friend to pump the peddle

Hi guys,

I just did the whole lot on the car.

I just stuffed plastic bags all around the caliper to mask up - easy!

It doesn't really matter if you get some overspray on the brake lines etc.

as you will never see them. Just make sure no over spray goes onto your

paintwork on the guards, although this would only happen

if there was a windy day.
