Posted 02/01/08 03:15 AM Share Posted 02/01/08 03:15 AM The clear coat on all my alloys was flaking off in certain areas. Fatz made a call to our resident knob polisher, aka, dico2020.He said paint stripper will do the job then a metal polish. So we picked up the stripper and some paint brushes and auto glym metal polish. FMD that stripper is potent stuff! The clear coat just bubbled on contact. The dish is now so much shinier than before. All it needs is a polish from time to time. Autoglym do a sealer, bout $25 bucks or so a can. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41297-clear-coat/#findComment-616033 Share on other sites

Some of the wheels I have been looking at have required it though - this has predominately put me off though. What kind of dollars am I looking at for re clearing 4 18" rims - I can then take that into account when valuing rims. Take it to PM if needed.thanks,Chris. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41297-clear-coat/#findComment-616577 Share on other sites

Posted 04/01/08 06:49 AM Author Share Posted 04/01/08 06:49 AM Couldn't get the Autoglym product, but after much shelf surfing, came accross a SONAX product => SONAX Nano-pro wheel coating.About to give it a go. On a side note, I was told by 3 different people at the Autobarn store that no such product exsists! I told them to call Autoglym, they did, and the warehouse is closed till the 7th. When I found the SONAX product, it came in a pack with rim cleaner and tyre shine, the bloke was amazed what exsisted in the world of car care!!! Pay peanuts ------ get monkeys!
