Budget is around 2500 installed,

For $2500 you will get a decent sound that should be loud enough to hurt your ears! Polk have been doing home audio for years and do make some quality car audio as well. I just fitted the Polk SR6500's to my car with a cheap Clarion 12 inch ported subwoofer & amp combo ($299) and the sound is very nice. I didn't fit and rear speakers but for some extra volume you could pick up some ok 5x7's and amp to suite for around $500.

Get a properly designed enclosure for your sub. I would look at something properly designed that would fit right begind the back seat firing away from the cabin. You could design it to be removable so you dont loose the split-fold. There's a bandpass design for a 10 inch (either single 10 or isobaric for extra thunmp) subwoofer called a DBK10. Check it out here . It should fit under the parcel shelf right behind the back seat and from all reports it thumps. I will be building one soon to see how it compares tom my single 12inch ported subby. My 12inch doesnt fit where I want it to and I dont want to loose too much boot space.

Here's what I did back in September... The Black Beast gets an Audio Upgrade

I fair bit over your budget, but damn it sounds so freaking awesome... :spoton:

When you use the iPod Audio cable, it is all controlled from the VHub Pro Orb and plays music perfectly.

When you use the iPod Video Passthrough cable, it assumes that it's just a generic A/V connection (like a DVD player). So you have to grab the iPod to control the video playback. :flick_flex:

Unfortunately, they didn't use their brains at Alpine and make an iPod cable that does both. :slap:

How would you rate the w3's? would you think 1 would be enough for decent oomph?

On a side note, after abit of surfing online im leaning towards Rockford Fosgate Power subs and speakers, and Punch amps.. Has anyone had any experience with RF gear? how would you rate them in comparison to say, Alpine type R's and type X's, and other high-end brands like MB Quart and Focal, Eclipse etc?

sorry about the amateur questions but im still in the learning process of this car audio mumbo..

cheers,

jet

one will thump your ears out awsome subs, in the right box it will give you an ear infection, they have taken over the 15'

sub in the jl range, I got 2 because the box I have in ute had 2 12' kickers 400rms each but they where dual voice coil d4s so with 2 I could only get the ohms down to 4 or 1 and my amp is 1000 rms at 2 ohm so I was not gettin enough power that's why the upgrade.

if you can afford the jl you will never ever go back, even on the RF subs jl really does sh*t on it
