Hi guy's just thought I'd post about a new project I neen helping my son, well let me re frase that. I've been doing the work and supplying the financial backing. :buttrock:

It's not BA or later related but I reckon when its finished it will give the XR6T's and many crappadores a run for their money. We've fitted a 4.0lt with a TO4E turbo external wastegate stainless exhaust manifold and I just finished the plumping for the FMIC.

Had the car on the dyno to get a base figure before we start tuning with an ems stinger that I ran on my XR6T ute. Running standard ECU and injectors with 6.5 psi of boost the car made 178 rwkw and 800nm of torque. A/F were in the low 11's this is where the ems will help. Hopefully getting some consistant A/F's will see some HP gains. We have since replaced stock injectors with 42lb green tops and made some intake changes.

All in all this thing is better than my XR6T ute running the same boost. I have just finished installing the ems and I will do some tuning myself then have the EMS tuned properly on a dyno soon, hopefully running 1 bar of boost or better depending on other unknown restrictions at the moment.

I have fitted a wideband O2 sensor and run the data logging it's really cool stuff to play with.

Any way I know what your going to say :nono:

This thread is useless without pics so as soon as I find where the little sh*t has uploaded them to I'll post them.

this thing is going to be a weapon :buttrock:

thanks Mika, The litle sh*te has just walked in and showed me where he's stored his pics so I"'m uploading some now. We'll post more tomorrow of the engine bay ja has'nt taken any since I completed some more work today

This was the intake menifold we were going to run but there was going to to much work involved moving A/C compressor so we elected to keep stock plenum. I little dissapointing really would have finished engine bay off nicely

Hey Macka, the number plate is still in the last pic.

You blocked out the others so I'm assuming you don't want to show them.

Looks good BTW. :buttrock:

Looking good Macka,

The older Eseries falcons really turn into animals with some boost.

Ive built a few, EA EB ED, over the years and they were all crazy to drive.

The motors hold up well with some good tuning too... high 200s is fine on a wrecker motor with a good safe tune... I jammed 24psi into a 180oookay ED motor for awhile, it didnt bend rods or go bang... just got slower, and slower, and smokey lol, fun times!

We've had the engine fully rebuilt and blue printed, balanced etc. Kept the standard rods shot peened and linished the crank. We have also fitted ACL 8.5:1 forged pistons. I've heard the bottom ends are reasonably tough. We also had a budget to stick to, would have like to fit forged rods I think this combo should run 15-18 psi with a good tune safely.

It will be interesting to see how much grunt we can make. I can't see the auto holding together very long with the amount of torque it pushing out.

Rapid what would you consider safe A/F ratios under load. Mildura is pretty hot this time of year high 30's low 40's most days. I've heard 12.5:1 but I'm thinking closer to 12 would be safer.
