I had a set of the Marangoni Mythos and imho I thought they were by far the worst tires I've had on any of my cars. Abolutely sh!t when cold, and really no better when hot. They gave little if any feedback and in the wet they were dangerous. I may be the only nay sayer in this thread but I would never for a second consider them as a performance tyre alternative. I saved around a grand on the tires I was going to get and its a lesson I've learned. Great tires are the best overall performance upgrade you can get, and Marangoni and the word great should never be used together.

I can only compare the Marangonis to the Dunlops as that's all my Typhoon has been shod with. initially I was a lil disappointed with the noise, I was assured they were quieter than the Dunlops which are like truck tyres. The noise has abated now I have 2,000 klms on the marangonis I fitted to the front, the basically new pair of Dunlops ( one was the never used spare the other an insurance tyre I specifically asked not to be fitted ) were on ther front breifly are now on the back.

In one mildly spirited drive through the Somerset Dam region I rounded the shoulders off the Dunlops at an alarming rate of wear.

I had as decent a go through the entire length of the Putty Road as one so far from home would dare recently, the shoulders on the Mythos are fine. They hung on that little bit better than the Dunlops did. Felt better..

I`m happy enough with them so far.

I drove on a slighlty damp road today and that's my some total of experience with the Mythos in the wet. It was a bit greasy, they were okay.

Tread wear is the next test, time will tell. At this stage I`ve got an open mind. I`ll never stop looking for better, you can`t afford too.

Hi

I have had the Marangoni Mythos on my car for about 10,000klm.

I think they are crap when cold and not much chop in all cons.

Would never buy them again you get what you pay for with tyres.

I agree with myf6 on this.

Thanks

Wow, what sort of tyres would you guys class as a good tyre?

What size have you both had them in also, I've found a fairly large difference between sizes of the same make tyre (SP3000s, really good in 225/50R16, not so good in 235/45R17)?

You should probably never try any of the really cheap rubber coming out of China either, if you think Marangonis are bad you are not going to like a set of 'Clears' or 'Triangles' LOL

I will be replacing the factory crap with Yokie Advan v103's.

Had them on the Typhoon and they were a great all round performance tyre.

Well all of the above sounds very confusing... I guess the opinions vary based on how hard people are actually pushing the tyres.

The Maxxis on my car feel slippery when cold but once you get them warm they feel pretty secure on the road in the dry and the wet.

I've also drag raced them and run mid to low 11s passes consistently so I guess they are a pretty good tyre.

I think these are good value for money at about $250 a corner.
