I raced a XW GT look a like at WSID the first time I went, I think it was stock - not sure if it was a 351 - and I did a 13.7 and he did a 14.1, but again, I can't be sure what was in it

XY GT's do 0-100 in 6.4 with a 1/4 of 14.1, that's with 300bhp and weight of 1500kgs

I think with 400bhp it would run high 12's low 13's, so asside from the manual I'll need about 350kw I think.

I reckon you can do it with the T5. Depends if he is running a top loader or a auto too.

Hows yours feel Muz do you think you could go to 350rwkw, have you got a ripshift or simlilar? Apart from practise once the XY's been disposed of there won't be much more track work. By the looks of your setup I'm gonna need it well tuned and a minimum 350 to make up for the lack of an Auto.

its more the torque that you have to worry about I reckon - going up 20rwkw might not be much, but that could also mean a jump of 40-odd Nm, ontop of the massive amount of torque you will already have - be careful mate!

I think someone else mentioned the type of clutch was very important to the preservation of the T5 - make sure you use an organic clutch, the harshness of a cerramic one will kill it quicker!

My prediction is your T5 will sh1t itself before 2009 and you replace it with a 6 speed.

The XY will run 12's all day with that HP and an Auto.

If you are still in the T5 your driving will be the deciding factor.

Too much and you wheel spin and not enough and he will get the jump.

Let us know how it goes and post some pics of the XY.

Cheers

James

I think I'm at the limit for sure. Any more and it will go. Clutch has everything to do with it I reckon. Organic is the way to go.

Back in the ol' days Street tuna (forum name) pulled a 12.3 with the T5, he didn't have much power either.

Oh and I got a 13.5 with only 280rwkw. Last time I went out with 330 I blew the CV so there is a 12 in it for sure.

Ahhh ok that makes sense, I assumed you did the 13.5 with 330. Although I'd love a 6 speed it's not going to happen in a year so if I can get high 12's safely I'm just gonna have to hope that will be enough.

All things asside I would rather be shown up by XY 351 than some poxy commie or buzz box.
