After reading every bloody thing on the forum with regards to the auto vs manual decision in F6's ect,, I am gonna lease a XR6T in the new year (hopefully before those gay Orions come out) and I am stumped with trans choice.

I will be doing country roads majority, too and from work. I have a dodgy sorta knee, so I am leaning away from the manual,, but don't want the auto to take away from the fun factor..

Any ideas lads ??

So far the want list is looking like this :

XRT6 Sedan

Manual or Auto (don't know)

Conquer Blue or the black colour

Tints

Bluetooth

Ipod connection

Leather seats

Towbar

(Leased, with a nice fuel card, so I can drive it quite hard !! :banghead: )

The 6spd auto is a good box, but the best way to decide is to test drive both. But with dodgy knees you should be looking at the auto as the manual clutch is fairly heavy.

I vote auto, I drive a manual, but the ZF is a great box, and as 72 said, your knees won't like the clutch...

Auto + Turbo = :banghead:

But like 72 said, the only real way to decide is get behind the wheel of both and go from there :banghead:

If you do a lot of country driving I'd have the manual, as it is more rewarding to drive if your history is manual driving.

But if your knee is dodgy go the auto.

You can drive the auto in manual mode, which is what I do 99% of the time. It's very easy.

The auto is very economical for country driving, with a very tall overdrive 6th gear.

Manual gear changes are far from slick, but the clutch is fairly light.

Modified autos are very fast.

Tough call, but I'd probably lean towards the auto.

If you're in Sydney let me know via pm and I might be able to organise something.... I now have free time on my hands.

Thanks Brian (and the other lads)

I am in the Upper Hunter Valley. When I get closer to the deal, I may take you up on the offer mate ! Auto sounds like the go. I looked at another new XR6 today and the auto looked like the real deal !!

Cheers,

in a manual you feel like your driving the car and in the auto you feel like your in a taxi unless your going for it.I have got one of each. auto has up grades and the manual is stock .auto is fast but the manual is fun. clutch is no problem pretty soft.but the auto will kill a manual off the grid.but the autos are weaker for I have already kill the zf but couldnt kill the manual when I had 380rwkw in my first turbo very tuff. autos cost a lot to repair but a clutch is cheap.so flip a coin.that's y I got one of each
