Lewis Hamilton banned in France

December 18, 2007

Lewis Hamilton has been fined and his driving licence suspended for a month for speeding on a French motorway.

Police said the McLaren F1 ace was driving a Mercedes-Benz clocked at 196km/h near the northern town of Laon on Sunday.

He was stopped, the car was impounded and he was fined 600EU.

A police spokesman said Hamilton was very polite and co-operative and his car had since been released.

How do they propose to create an Oz version of Top Gear if a chirp at the light can warrant your car being taken of you???

I guess all testing will be done on track which is not a true test for the road environment.
