The XR5 is like the WRX, and the RS is like the STI version. The reason it won't come here yet is because of the price. It would be north of 55k once it gets here, and it would need to be from the FPV stable, and since they wouldn't touch it then its hard for them to badge it as an FPV. that's why they want to wait till they make it here so they can basically take the RS and badge it as their own. They might only add wheels and bigger brakes like FPV do for the Falcons at the FPV plant but at least then they can claim ownership of it and badge it as their own. They don't want to just take it and change the badges, they want some input into its build. The good thing about making it here is that they can get whatever bits TeamRS use and fit them online at broadmeadows. It would be cheaper than if they were to import it too, exchange rates, import duties etc.I know someone who has seen a few of the design sketches for the 2011 Focus and he reckons it looks really aggressive and should look awesome once it hits the road. They make cars for people who can't drive.

Only problem is, Toyota is too desperate to bail when certain models start returning less profit than expected. They prefer bread and butter cars (I.e. Camry and Corolla). I hope the new RS retails for under 40K (maybe not likely):(1) It needs to be competitive with the Mazda3 MPS (42K)(2) 45K can buy an XR6T, I'd feel ripped off if I didn't take the larger and more luxurious car for similar money. Its not meant as an entry level hot hatch, that's what the XR5 is for.

The RS has the agility of a mongoose - a match for the Evo. But don't underestimate the Mazda3 MPS, my friend works for Mazda and said that thing beat the WRX STI and EVO in a recent rally championship.I find the quoted 0-100 time of 5.9s was a bit underwhelming for the RS (compared to Evo 5.4s / 3MPS 5.6s) , I know it'll make up for it with insane lap times, but I still like my straight line punch.
