Well my 1999 AU XR6-VCT was written off when a lady that

ran a stop sign & hit me a few days ago! (nobody was hurt).

I have managed to find a very well looked after example of a

BA MkII XR6T in 'shockwave' with 90,000kms on the clock at a good price.

It has a 6 speed manual, and the momo steering wheel.

Warranty runs out on it in a few weeks, so if there is anything that I should

be on the lookout for to get fixed under warranty let me know asap please.

I would like to modify it to a power level where the standard clutch will still

hold up ok... Not too sure, but I think I would like to do the following mods:

- Typhoon intake

- BMC filter

- Centre muffler removal

- Custom edit

This should get me some decent power, whilst still remaining stock looking,

and not frying the clutch too easily. 230rwkw perhaps ??

I am thinking about either Nizpro ot HP-F to do the custom edit, as these

seem to have a good reputation in Melbourne.

Also, I was considering cosmetic mods such as 18"s & perhaps white GT stripes...

Anyway, I have been enviously lurking around here for several years, learning

about these cars patiently, and I can't wait to now pick mine up on Sunday !

PS. I will need to change my forum name from BLACK XR6-VCT to something

more up to date :)

// Jake.

Change your clutch before it explodes, it has happened to a few on here,

better change your Id as well , before your warranty is up , check 4 steering clunks, excessive driveline play ( it comes standard from the factory) so good luck, brake shudder and hand brake operation..

Oh and congrats on the new ride, Im sure your list of mods wont stop there !

Congrats Jake

Might be worth taking it to a real mechanic and get them to prepare a list of things for warranty repair - if you take it straight to the dealer they might be more inclined to miss a few things. :spoton:

Congrats on the purchase. Good luck just sticking to that power level. I said that I would just stick to an edit only and now look whats happened. Enjoy your new ride. :spoton:

G'day guys,

Update:

I picked up my F6 intake from FTG Autosalvage - $75, and have

receiveed a K&N filter in the mail from ebay - $75.

I also have a C&V CAPA box on the way $495 with three generic tunes.

(Thanks to this website)

The only things I can pick on with the car at this stage are:

- Diff clunk - will get checked under remaining warranty.

- 2nd & 3rd gear isn't 100% smooth (sometimes a little crunch) - will get checked under remaining warranty.

Any ideas about the issues above?

Once warranty work is done, I will chuck the cold air stuff on & get the center muffler

removed, and head down to get a custom tune!

PS. I am getting my forum name changed to "Jake XR6T"
