Well always knew it was going to happen sometime, just not so soon. In a way I am lucky to get away relatively uninjured.

They say things come in threes, first dog bitten by tick then this, I am hiding under my bed when not on forums.

Bike damage relatively cosmetic, at least to my untrained eye, I have about 40 staples in three gashes to my thighs.Pics of two included the other was not stapled at time and not a pleasant sight.

For those of you that know the road from Samford up to Mt Nebo coffee shop, I came around that 20km/h rutted hairpin at 20 km/h, after that is a steep climp with a left hand kink. Well I short shifted into second as to not stand the bike on on its rear wheel, gave it a decent squirt in second and it stood up on me. Fro here with front wheel in air and no steering I started to drift toward centre line, touched the back brakes and backed off throttle to bring front wheel down. happened on the white paint, back end stepped out, I was on wrong side of road doing about 70 km/h. At this stage I had two options, drop it and slide into armco, or stand it up brake and hope I could pull it up in time, took the second option and swiped the armco about 30 km/h. I rolled over the top and my thighs grabbed sharp bits of metal on the reverse side and ripped me open, no other damage apart from a bruised back, phone in pocket fine, helmet not a scracth, jacket has a small cut.

Not to mention a none to pleased missus, merry christmas everyone, I may have a few drinks trhis year.

Mate you just got a little bit of a warning. What were you wearing on your legs?

Did you have any gear on other than helmet?

Shorts, jeans, leathers?

Looks like you were lucky mate. Take care out there, keep her right side up and ride your own ride.

Cheers,

Craig.

Draggen jeans.

Scotty

OK for dragging along the road and preventing gravel rash, but not so good on sharp edges by the look of it. I would have been in something similar. My leather pants only come out on special occasions. Glad to hear you weren't in shorts and thongs.

Heal up quickly mate!

You got a price to fix the bike yet?

I take it those army bikes you have been riding for years don't pull 2nd gear power wheelies like a blade! :tonguepoke:

Now mate Yamaha 600 road trail and GR 650 road bikes recently upgraded to BMW 1150 Police specials. Nice bike and all well the BMW anyway, but no power wheelies in any gear, no how hard you try. Thsi CBR 1000 is in a league all forein to me, first three gears accelerate hard, hit around 8000 rpm and front wheel lifts, scares the sh*t out of me everytime.

Only thing to do is fight with the missus about keeping it, fix it up and get back out there.
