Well, as a few of you know I'm changing my intake set-up, I've sold the PWR cooler and Around battery pipe, and I'm buying SHY_XR's old setup - a rapid cooler and pipework.

Last night I took my PWR gear off to fit my factory cooler and UBP so I can still drive around until the new stuff gets to me. After fitting everything up and getting it going, I was surprised at how responsive the factory cooler was! Iknow it sounds weird, but at low rpm it was quite good! Once it got to about 4000rpm you could tell it was being restricted so I backed off, but its quite good to drive around town at low speeds.

Hopefully the new set-up will be awesome, which I'm sure it will

I had experienced something similar lately.....

Not long ago I had purchased aftermarket piping which replaces the facotry x over. It was quite good for midrange power but down low it was terrible, very sluggish and took forever to get going which I wasnt happy with. I had also lost the sounds of my turbo spooling which I loved so to get it back, I put back my facotry x over and amazingly it was all responsive again. lol

I'm now running the facotry x over with 300+rwkw's and I'm loving the response + the sound's I'm getting from it. I guess we all have our different way's of modding, and personally for me, im finally happy with how my car perform's and sounds now. :fool:

Good luck with your new setup Senna T. I'm sure it will go and sound awesome:)

Cheers

San

Going back to the stock set up can be a supprise hey.

By the way, SHY_XR's cooler is a Hybrid brand intercooler not one of mine, I just made the 3inch piping to suit it.

Should be good to see the tuning results, I know that piping is capable of 350wkws very easily with the right supporting gear.

thanks for the comments guys, yes I should point out that the cooler I am getting is a Hybrid Cooler, I know this, and it has been clarified previous to sale, so no-one has led me astray as to what I'm buying :spoton:

I've spoken to the boys at CV re a quick dyno run to check the AFR's, and if it needs a tune, we'll do that too. I just hope I can get it all installed and get over there before they close on the 22nd! Otherwise it will have to wait until I get back from japan next year!

don't get me wrong, the PWR cooler is WAY more efficient! the standard stuff is good at low revs because it is a shorter way for the air to travel, but once the revs rise, it is obviously restrictive.

f6forme, I should see the payment tomorrow, the couriers will be picking up the box between 1 and 5pm - its in the original PWr box so you won't miss it.

As far as Japan goes I'll be in Tokyo and osaka, mostly tokyo though, we will try and go to as many places as we can, and we are gonna try and score a wangan run too!

This might be a dum question, but...

Could you have two smaller pipes running in parallel, and at lower revs only one is open, and as the revs rise the second pipe is opened?

Then you could have quicker response, followed by free flow?
