I can't tell you what cause my mate said so, but it isn't good. And the evil look of the front of the car has been replaced with a rather flat look courtesy of a panel van. Its an $8000 flat look too... No more Turbo for 2002...

I can't believe someone has managed to write one off already.. unbelievable.

I feel sorry for the fella, hope he's insured.....but it doesn't surprise me at all given the "tone" of the preceeding posts.

Its clowns like this that are going to have us all paying 3k to insure our cars within 12 months, and a stigma attached to an XR6T owner not unlike that which seems to go with the WRX.

I share your concerns.

I can understand people getting excited about getting their car but to act in a manner that potentially causes harm to others (both physically and financially) is just selfish and irresponsible. Not to forget the poor bloody car......! Save it for a racetrack.

I really hope the guy is OK but personally, what worries me is that the insurance quotes I'm getting now (as high as they are) will end up seeming cheap by the time my car shows up in April/May.

Enjoy the drive but please think about the consequences of your actions. We all know the performance potential of the car and obviously that's the attraction but please don't feel the need to prove it every time you come to a red light. I cringe when I see posts on some forums titled "I just left a WRX in my dust" etc. Aside from an obvious maturity issue, these stories achieve nothing other than possibly encoraging similar behaviour.

Sorry for the rant but the last thing we want is a poor image for these great vehicles.

Enjoy the effortless nature of the XR6 T and drive safe.

SupeRoo.

This is something i totally agree with you. One of the major reasons of me going with an XR6 Turbo was the cost of insurance. Ive always wanted a turbo car and the insurance i felt was "reasonable" for this kind of car.

From actions such as above, i really see insurance companies saying enough is enough such as WRX owners and charging through the roof just to have one. This sadly would cause me to have to sell my car because of some idiots on the road. I cant afford just around Christmas time to spend whatever the price may be ie $5500 (WRX insurance for myself) just to have a Turbo XR6T. At the moment $2100 compared to alot of other forum members is still pretty high. But I can manage that.

Everyone seriously think about what your doing before taking on someone or driving wrecklessly, it may not only impact yourself as in personal injury or injury to someone else, but can cause serious issues for other drivers on the road as in insurance premiums going up.

Just remember also that this is third hand news and that we know nothing of the driver in question or the circumstance's surrounding the incident.

No point jumping to a conclusion unless you know the full 'correct' details of what went on.

Agreed, we dont know the circumstances of the accident. The driver may very well have been the innocent party in the accident, we dont know.

However the tone of the posts leading upto the accident still bothers me and we are all going to pay for this kind of behaviour in the long term.

Well, running into the back of a parked car doesn't leave much room for apportioning blame....

Insurance premiums have already gone up ... I can hear the counters ticking over now LOL.
