I have installed a PWR transmission cooler and bypassed the radiator completely. I have a trans temp gauge and the temp sits between 150F and 170F. I am fairly sure that the temp sensor is on the return line from the cooler so this should be a good indication of the trans sump temperature where the gauge is suppose to be mounted. Is this a normal range.

Thanks

Fair enough mate....would have been good to see before and after figures

yeah it would be. I am hoping that maybe someone may have a temp gauge on a standard one so I can get an idea of the standard figures.

That is between 66 C and 77 C. I can't see a problem with those numbers.

I am having a brand new radiator installed on Friday. I also have the PWR trans cooler (the big one).

I was going to run the transmission fluid firstly through the PWR cooler and then the radiator as well.

I can't see a reason to bypass the radiator......2 coolers should be better than 1 right...????

I would not use the Radiator to cool the Auto Transmission !!

If the Radiator system fails, you finish up with oil in your cooling system, or coolant in your Transmission. !!

This is why !

those temps are fine.........

drag cars you kind of panic when temps hit above 250 degrees F as it starts to boil the fluid and slips the clutch packs badly.

in a street car 150 to 180 is pretty much the norm. when you start to hit 200 and above.......... start drivings slowly till it cools down.

PWR make great trans coolers as these are what I use
