Suspension Upgrade

Hey All. I purchased new wheels and am currently waiting for the tyres to come in. I ended up going with the Speed Envy MKIII's in 19x8.5 all round and Falken 452's in 245/35 all round. I was going to go with the 9.5/275 on rears which would have looked great but was not really practical in the long run.

So, I now need to lower it. I'm looking around and have been quoted a price for the full Tein coilovers, camber/castor kit, 30mm/22mm non-adjustable sway bars all fitted and setup for under 3k. I know I can get an ok setup for half that price but how much better are the Teins?

Can anyone offer any experiences with Teins? Any other suggestions? What are you guys running?

I'm pretty sure JP300 runs the TIEN's with the EDFC for the shock control, they seem to be the gun set-up, but I'm not sure about the ride, I spose if you soften up the shocks it would be ok

Well this thread took off like a rocket.

On Monday the car goes in to get suspension. It would seem Tein is trying to get their for-Australian coilovers out there and are offering some ripper prices, so I've decided to go with them. Also whiteline 30mm/22mm sway bars, camber/caster kit, setup, wheel alignment, bump stops etc etc etc. The Teins were not that much more than Bilstein struts and King springs. Then on Tuesday, the 19's go on - I'll be stylin'! It'll still be pulling 14's, but at least it will look (and handle) good doing it! I'll post some picks soon.

I have driven a BA GTP with in car adjustable Tien's excellent ride and feel but throw it into a corner and it was terriable,Tien's are not made for australian Falcons and it shows we can fit this system but there are better alternatives IMO!

What do you mean by "terrible" in corners? Too stiff? Too soft? I know the "old" Teins were very stiff, too stiff for Aussie conditions. These Teins have been redesigned specifically for Australia and are supposed to be quite a bit softer now thanks to re-valving. The guys at Centerline Suspension love them! They say that eventhough Bilsteins are an excellent unit, they don't compare to the new Teins. I guess I'll know soon enough.

I run Koni/Kingsprings with F/R ajustable whitelines. They suite my car very nicely and give good ride and ajustability for the track.

The Tein's are a step up on my setup, but it will come down to the springs you choose and the way it is setup.

It could take a lot of playing around to get the settings right, as they can be VERY stiff for the road. You would be best to find a place that has done several street cars, as the 2 cars I have been in felt like V8 supercars. They jumped over bumps and were way to stiff for turn in.

Go softer then stifen up, do not start stiff or you will never be happy.

Yeah setup is what can make a product seem good or bad. With the 16 posy dampening adjustments, I'm fairly confident I can find a happy medium setting for everyday driving. 2 days to go!

Ok boys, just dropped it off at centerline suspension in Thomastown. Should be ready this arvo by about 3. Will post pics as they come to hand. Can't wait!

I've got the Teins with the EFDC in my BA F6, fitted by Tunehouse.

The soft setting is a joy to drive on around town in Sydney.

The full hard setting is noticeably harder.

I have the 3 presets set for 1. full soft 2. full hard 3. an intermediate.

I'm getting some stiffer sway bars installed this week.

I haven't had a chance to test this out fully yet, but will when I do a 600km "cruise" in the next 2 weeks.

On the fly electronic adjustment capability is something that I like, and good adjustability with 16 adjustment settings, both front and rear independently.

Being able to go full soft on rear at the push of a button on a console right in front of you gives better launch capabilty, and that is more important the more HP you have.

jp300 has used the same setup to help get his 10.9 recently, so we're now going to test it with a manual.

My BF F6 has stock suspension; overall it is a terrible suspension; the front dampers are too soft; the rear is much firmer, and twitchy and nervous over bumps.

I have been running the Teins now for a couple of weeks. Though with standard sway bars still.

VERY impressed. The EDFC control is magic.

My only gripe, and it's very slight, is I think it's just a little too stiff even at it's softest setting.

With my RT615s, the car handles like a dream. Lots of road noise though. Almost drowns out the sound off the 044 pump that's under the passenger footwell...
