When I reverse out of my drive way sometimes the front brake seem to grab and it can be felt through the steering and brake pedal. It has been back to the local dealer several times only to say it is carrying out a self test and it is nothing to worry about, well to me the brake are pretty important so has anyone else had similar fault or have any ideas. I thought all self tests where carried out on start up not as you were reversing am I wrong.Help.

If it's under Warranty take it to another dealer, if not a Brake Specialist ! It shouldn't do it.

(ie, when you start the car and reverse out the drive)It's more noticeable in some cars than others. I remember 2 identical cars that I drove, and one was much more noticeable than the other. I was quite concerned until someone told me what it was, then it made sense... Now I like hearing/feeling it (and then no ABS warning light!) as I know that the ABS/braking system has tested itself and considers itself working. The amount you feel it through the pedal and body of the car will depend on many things, one being the clearance of the metal brake lines to the body of the car.It shouldn't actually be applying the brakes (well, you shouldn't feel the car slow down) and should last for less than a second. If its actually stopping or slowing the wheels, then get it checked out.Cheers
