its to do with the gasket right?, I know you can lower the comp ratio with a thicker gasket, as it makes the space for the air to compress in larger

All the heads have the same ports and combustion chambers, the castings are the same across the range. Its only the pistons that determine the final compression ratio in these production engines.

ahhh, ok, so I guess an egas short motor would be the choice for the NA crowd, I wonder if NOS XR would be interested, although the forced induction might be too much for it...
