like was said earlier, dont forget that the f6 engine will have lower compression, and wont be very useful without boost..

Does anyone know what the comp ratio for an LPG engine is? This might be a much better option as a short motor if the compression is the same as an N/A as it uses the same internals as an F6 I am fairly sure?

Another victim of a snapped conrod.

If your wanting to beef up your BA, your best bet would be to invest in a BF F6 short motor from Ford. It will set you back around $2,500 delivered to your local mechanic.

All the best with your rebuild.

San.

Can I just add for anyone in NZ......these short motor assemblys are also available through Ford dealers here. Same part number. Retail $3000 plus GST. I believe the trade margin around 20%. At that price certainly not worth buying in Oz and bringing in.

Velluto

PS: thanks for your PM 'Straughsberry' with product codes.

the comp ratio on the Egas engine is 10.7:1, where the NA engine is 10.3:1, the turbo motor is 8.7:1 though, a big difference

Well an egas short motor should be perfect for the N/A pilot then! Should be cheaper than an F6 short motor as well I would have thought?

The only problem is that the Egas motor doesn't use injectors, so I'm pretty sure the ports for the injectors are plugged, might be a set-back!

How would that be a drama if you buying a short motor from ford? You'l reuse your intake manifold and head?

d'oh! Of course! long motor, short motor..........ahh I'm an idiot - thanks hiddeous

This would also apply to the F6 short block too, the comp is made from the head.
