Does this normally happen in the first five minutes of driving?

I have similar problem if not worse in the first five minutes of driving.

Normally for me I will take off and when I put the clutch in the revs pick up!!!!

I sometimes very rarely have the saem issue. If I put my clutch in while im cruising and give it a tap, the revs dont rise and drop instantly it will rev fast but drop slowly or even stay at around 1500-1800 rpm for a couple of seconds.

Didnt bother me too much as I thought it might have been normal but a solution or diagnosis of the problem would be great.

I think it is a built in feature to promote smoother gear changes. A bit like the old 'dashpot' device on the nissan carby's

Mine does it very slightley, my Ford Focus used to do it all the time, complained to Ford at a service and they fixed it, go to Ford if they are any good they can fix it for you.

I had an older EL that did that once. Guy at Ford dealer got a rag soaked in petrol and cleaned out inside of throttle body, then disconnected the idle controller switch 'thingy' and let it run with it disconnected so the car would learn the correct settings once it was reconnected. Sorry I am not a techy person but whatever he did fixed the problem.

I agree, I think it was done on purpose, but in case I'm wrong or there is a way to stop this PLEASE let me know as it pisses me off. This is the only car I have driven where you get off the accelerator completely wait for a moment and then press the clutch and up shift in order to get it right and not ride the clutch in the process.

It's good for when you're feeling lazy or tired though. but if I wanted to be lazy I would have gotten an auto.

Funny, I flashed the factory tune back in today as I was dropping it off for a service and noticed what you are saying. Best way to fix it is get a custom tune and enjoy the other benefits that come with that.
