Just have a wuick question. I was thinking about fitting a Bosch 044 inline fuel pump without a surge tank as I don't need a surge tank. First of all has anybody done this and if they have is it hard??

Has anbody got any pictures of one fitted to a sedan??

hey mate, I had CV put one in my car, it seems to keep the fuel up to the injectors fine, I got surge once when I was thrashing my car at high speed (on a private road of course) this was after a while though - so in hindsight, a surge tank would've been a good idea. I'd recommend the surge tank, but they do come with a price

You don't happen to have or could take any pictures could you?? Would be good to see where they have mounted it. It isn't that noisey is it??

you get used to the sound, but everyone knows you have a fuel pump or something wrong with your car! I'll try and take some pics, they mounted it low in the engine bay sort of below the ABS module if you know what I mean.

Adding a surge tank and 044 ( or better ) is one of the smarter things to do, surge/starvation can catch you round a corner very easilly... it does on mine sometimes with only 1/3 tank left.

APS used an inline pump without a surge tanks so it does work.

Check out the latest edition of Street Machine FORDS (Issue 14). At the back of the mag there is a twin turbo XR Boss and it is running a single Bosch 044 inline with the exsisting factory intank unit. The mag shows a small picture of its mounting under the car, before the fuel filter and they say its capable of supporting the 370rwkw the TT BOSS is running.

This puts a new spin on the whole intank walbro/surge tank theory.

Just because it can support the power on a dyno doesn't mean it won't surge on a track or at the drag strip, or even when the tank is 1/4 empty for that matter

Yes, for example I run around 340rwkw in my T with a 044 in-line set-up, and if I get a average launch at the drags, I will feel the slightest surge right at the top of 4th gear - for safety reasons I will be investing in a surge tank shortly shortly
