If you didn't know you are also breaking road rules.

The best way not to get done for speed is don't speed. The right foot is connected to the brain so are the eye balls. Using them in conjuction with common sense is the problem.Chops

People have every right to do the speed limit and as the rules state KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING It is just as dangerous as speeding as it frustrates the huge line of people stuck behind you that are forced to undercut to get past you. A quick flash of the lights means "Could you please let me past" If they choose to ignore this then they should not be on the bloody road. That's another thing altogether, but even less of a reason to tailgate. Use the other lane to go around them, if it's blocked, wait until there's space. By all means toot and flash to get their attention.Back on topic, speend cameras are a lot more complicated than yes or no answers can provide. In many cases speed limits are set too low to catch more people out (Sydney's M2 is a prime example, where it goes from 80 to 70 just before a camera, then up to 100 after the camera). In principat speed cameras are a good idea, they're (along with many of our road rules) applied in the wrong manner.

The powers that be just installed about 10 new fixed camera's around the place. There is a for and against argument for everything I guess. We have some of the best roads with some of the worst drivers. These camera’s have mostly been installed on 80-100km/h roads where people are generally going a little over the posted limit. These camera’s are making us slow down which is good. However – is doing 20km/h over the limit on a two lane, well constructed road with wide shoulders and a 100km/h limit as bad as going 20km/h over the limit on a single lane residential street outside the local shops with a 50km/h limit? I guess then the argument begins… it’s not safe to do 20km/h over the limit anywhere…I’m a huge fan of driving to the conditions. I quite often drive at 20km/h over the limit but I choose the time and place. If it is a sunny day with high vis, not much traffic and I’m on the freeway or dual carriage way – I will do it. Having said that… if it is busy, residential, raining, foggy, dark etc… I might do 20km/h under the limit. Watching other drivers, paying attention to the conditions and driving within your limits are the key – IMHO. Everyone should be forced to ride a motorbike around for a couple of weeks. I guarantee it will give you a different outlook on road skills, etiquette and attitude… and hopefully natural selection will take the wan*ers off the roads!! My two cents…
