Hey there everybody, my ute is starting to have squicky front drivers side brake when I press the brake on lightly, but if I push it bit harder it goes away. Its loudest when car is cold started. Got nearly 40k on the clock. Will ford consider doing anything under the warrenty if I take to them to have a look at it?

Cheers

Russ

Mine has just started doing the same thing. Its a sedan and I have the premo brakes...

It has plenty of pad left and I shoved the hose in there, which usually fixes it - but no dice. Not too sure if fraud would do anything about it???

I haven't tried to wash em off. might do that first. It also has heaps of meat on the brakes and mine are just standard brakes.

Went to a car wash yard and spent a whole dollar for high pressure water on my brakes. No much dirt in em but did stop the noise, not sure how long will it last like that.

Its back again, I guess the discs need re-machining or something :)

Hi russ I think you will find that machininig wont cut it either, I machined mine and its still there, so I went out and brought brand spanking new disc rotors and bendix ultimate pads even though my others were still over 3/4 thick in size, and guess what the bastard of a thing started happeneing again so its got me stuffed.

A freind of mine said to fit a couple of small blobs of silicone on the backs of the pads and that should stop it, I dont know how true this is though but might eventually give it a go if it keeps it up.

squeaking can be because of a glaze on the brake pads, try a couple of good long sustained braking manouvers and see how you go, say from 70 - 80, on a quiet, private road of course!

My rig's doing this as well, like you said if you brake hard enough it's not there and if you brake light enough it doesn't make a sound either, there seems to be an (un-)sweet spot where it happens.

Would love to hear how to get rid of this, I've heard squeeky brakes are kinda common among fords.
