But check the gearbox for Redline smurf snot. EASY way to hide any gearbox issues. Makes a very bad box feel ok again... My box lasted 180K kms of hard thrashing but when I sold it, it was getting a bit tired. Engine was SO tough though. Smashing limiter to get bulk flammage, oil changes every 20K kms etc. Treat em mean, keep em keen FTWAs for a Stock T beating a 93-02 wrx, you got no chance.Show me a stock t that can run 13.5's -13.9's all day long with just a cat back exhaust. Not gonna happen. The majority of GC8's (classic shape) will do this. Edited 22/11/08 08:56 AM by Mat

I do run the redline gearbox as well, which definitely doesn't mean my gearbox is screwed.. I'm using it as it's what my tuner recommends me to use...Sounds like your rex was well cared of! hahaha Out of curiousity, how much power does your xr6t put down, and how does it feel in comparison? How much power did your rex have? Really would love to get a xr6t, ~350rwkw or so, but not sure how much more powerful (if any) it'd feel... Considering 100k is the speed limit..... I liked driving the little roller skate, but there was something quite uninspiring about it. And as a cabin I'd spend 2+hrs a day in, I just couldnt live with the tacky cheap feeling interior. Nice seats, but that's it.Theres more to a car than how it moves....

I have mates making more than that using only 18-22psi. In some cases 300awkw+Tabletennisman, my XR is stock. At the moment I have fmic, injectors, pump, edit and a catless section but im really unsure on the direction to take. Do I just do very basic mods (fmic, injectors, pump) and keep the standard cat in and dont worry about the clutch or do I do it all. Im not getting younger and while I should be saving to by a house, the travel bug is starting to itch...My WRX mad 124awkw with catback. With ecu / tmic / TBE etc it makes a bit closer to 190ish. I owned both for 9 months together and drove them both daily. Its an unfair comparison but both cars are a lot of fun. The comment about the redline smurf snot came after seeing and hearing some horror stories. Apparently in more than a few cases, after a certain amount of time it seized up and caused all sorts of drama's. My mechanic also said the same after experiences in his box. That said it made my gearbox almost perfect again! I guess if you keep an eye on lubricants (as you'd normally do with any car) you should pick up problems before they arise (if infact they do). Not cheap stuff though :(
