A bit of help please guys.

My car has just aquired a new unwanted noise that sounds like a cross between a turbo whistle and and auxilary whine that only comes on when under load.

I recently had new turbo bearings fitted but the noise was apparent immediately following.

Any ideas before I start pulling everything apart?

Steve That’s the Tubotech complementary whine that comes with every Turbo they do. Or you have a boost leak.

Greg are you serious about the Turbotech whine or is it just Diesel Machanic humour going over my head?

Some are like that Steve. Does it sound like a police siren?

Check for boost leaks first then drive it slowly through the rev range so as not to raise boost and see if you get the whine? Then load her up a bit and note at what boost Pres the whine comes in and goes away.

Yep just like a damn police siren which is not a good thing. I don't have a boost guage but it comes on under load around 2000rpm and stays until you back off.

Does this suggest a boost leak or the Turbotech freeby?

to me it sounds like the exhuast wheel on the turbo is out of whack and might not have been balanced properly
