They use the same calipers and pads as my car with the optional 6/4pots. Mine would squeel worse as I have the brembos on the rear as well, where the F6x only has the "red" calipers.

The problem is FPV was created as an answer to Holden's HSV and now that after releasing some great top of the range models (GT & F6) and building up there street cred they think they can whack an FPV badge on any piece of crap and it will sell. All this does is devalue proper FPV's and decrease future sales.

GTR's and VLT's are definitely cult cars but I don't see any FPV's as cult cars, this is just my opinion but I've always seen a cult car as the undervalued underdog tearing up more expensive more powerful vehicles and in turn earning street cred and reputation in doing so. If anything the XRT will be a cult car, you can pick a BA up for roughly 20k add 5k worth of mods and you will stand over most V8 production cars and the like. The XRT has already got a huge following and I'm glad Ford are continuing the turbo line, probably one of there smarter moves in recent years.

Right you are ZAP, but they are only running smooth discs from what I have seen, this may contribute to it considering there are no slots to swipe away the gasses that build up when braking

I got to see an F6X yesterday when the local dealership received one.

What a let down. It looks no different than any other TT, and the wheels look pathetic.

On the topic of Cult cars, yet the T will be a cult car.

Saying a GTHO selling for $1mill is worth nothing to Ford is pretty narrow minded. While Ford earn no cash from the sale, they do create a heap of hype and interest in the brand (why do you thing Ford issued their own press releases when the high prices were realised). Without the huge money attracted to recent HO sales, they wouldn't have seen the mad rush to snap up the recent Cobras. Also, without the God like status of the old GTs, their market for the modern performance sedans and GTs would be much smaller.

As far as the VL for Holden, I think that has created more sales for Ford than Holden. Plenty of ex VL owners jumped ship to Ford when the Ts came out, reliving the turbo 6 thrills. Though I suppose Expensive Daewoo ans HSV have Ford to thank for starting the whole craze in the first place.

Weather you like it or not, to many people (90% when it comes to performance models) primarily base their car purchases primarily on emotions, and childhood memories play a large role in that. Why do you think Expensive Daewoo even have a range of baby play pens, prams and baby toys?

Well, just got back from taking our first F6X for a test drive. My first impressions are that the car is very nice to drive, it pulls cleanly and well using about 3/4 throttle travel. Very toquey, but too quiet! The handling is good for a car that size and seeing as they still use the snow and mud tyres. Brakes are good and didn't squeel from what I heard.

If you put your foot down all the way the car launches well, but I feel the difference between full throttle and 3/4 is negligible - needs some more boost up top to feel really fast.

The main trick of these vehicles, as with the TTG, is that they are very quick from say 60km/h and up, the box won't stall past 2000rpm and the torque limiting makes stalling the car up a waste of time really.

So the big question - will we sell them? Of course, but not too many. I think the people who will buy this car will be the people who just buy the best of whatever they buy.

I read the same as your opinion.. They say the TTGhia is not even in the same league..

They put the F6X in the same league as the euro's which is interesting..

Would another 150hp turn it into a semi sports 4wd..

Because I have driven a TT Ghia and 20,000 will not turn one into a sports performance vehiicle!!

Drive an F6X tomorrow and have a full injector, cooler, exhaust and pump system to drop into it..

I am more concerned about braking and handling than power.. My F6 was running 380rw.. I kn ow what it takes to get hp from an F6

the brakes are great on the F6X, I will give it that much, I'd probably change to a slotted type rotor in the future though, as the standard ones are just smooth

6piston brembos make no difference as to the braking distances of the car, except under extreme conditions.

I have never cooked the brakes on our TTG and I have driven it HARD, so the brembos are more show than go. If you were to cook the stock brakes then it would either be towing or trackwork.

The differences with the motor is only 25kw and even then I doubt it would be that much. They both have the same exhaust, injectors, intercooler, motor, wiring and ecu. The only differences are the chrome tip on the exhaust, the blue paint on the intercooler and the tune in the ECU. I wonder how hard it is going to be to get Fraud service to put the F6-X tune into my TTG.....

I agree with Tmac regarding the VLT being a primer for T sales. For those of us being born late 70's early 80's the VLT was an affordable first (2nd hand) car with great bang for your buck.

Many of us bought a VLT early in our driving 'careers' and earned a love for turbo cars, but when we started to earn a decent living and had cash to splash, there was little on offer in the turbo sedan market. Expensive Daewoo had their supercharged V6 thing that was a hunk-o-junk and apart from a Nissan import (which many don't like) there was a gaping hole for this kind of car. Out pops Ford's T and we now had a genuine performance car at the right price.

Whether they meant it or not, I think the timing was gold. It might have been a reaction to other makers jumping onto the force-fed bandwagon, but they got it right.

That's my, uneducated, relatively ill-informed view anyways.
