I too ordered my XR6T without taking one for a test drive. First time I drove a Turbo was when I drove mine out of the dealership. They didn't even have a N/A XR6 for me to test drive, I only got to test drive an XT. Being a Ford person my whole life and having read all the reviews and seeing all the pictures of the BA's, I just knew that I had to have one. Short of the XT breaking down, falling apart or something similar, I don't think anything could have put me off the Turbo.

Haha at least they had a BA for you to look at.. I had ordered my car over a month before it was even seen!! Talk about scary stuff! I guess I just had the vision that this car would be successfull and a new cult car! Which Is why I also created the site!!! :ermm:

Thanks for all the replies and encouragement guys...didn't realise there were so many T owners in the same position as me! Just proves what an awesome car this is!

XR6Tas - mate I don't think Tilford's have had that Acid Rush demo for some time, certainly not in the last 3 months I've been looking. Just out of interest I was in Launceston recently (not out of choice!), and dropped in to Jackson Ford - those boys really know their stuff and were falling over themselves to put a demo on a truck and send it down to Hobart (but they didn't have a T either!). They reckon because they sell a lot more XR's than Tilford's, that they can get me one quicker too.

I'll wave you down next time I see you to say g'day - promise not to drool on your duco!! :)

Will keep you all posted on how I go....just got to get my accountants head out from between his cheeks long enough to tell me how best to pay for my new baby! (Not easy this time of year!)

By the way Falchoon, thanks for the warning about KB, but I've been reading this forum long enough to know that he's definitely a lettuce leaf short of a salad sandwich!!! :D Must be all that waiting, eh??

Anyone who's that much into L.O.R. must be a danger to society :ermm:

Cheers guys!!

HEY!!

I'm starting to get a complex here!

... see, in my world, I'm completely normal. Just don't understand why people are so unkind?

Oh well, "one ring to rule them all ..." (I don't even like lettuce ... what the hell's he on about ... we don't know precious ... evil hobbiteesss!)

I actually ordered my XR6T without a test drive. I actually only sat in an XR8 to see if I fit (2m tall myself) and I did. If the handling is better than my Pulsar SSS (Which I suspect it will be) I'll be a happy camper. The performance of the XR6T however will demolish my SSS's SR20DE easily and I garentee that I'll have a smile on my face practically non-stop when my XR6T arrives (going by the evidence in these forums).

Oh and I suspect, that if I did take an XR6T for a test drive the 3 month wait would be much much worse;)

They must have sold it. Or perhaps it was just on loan from another dealership. In any case it was a great demo car (the only one I’ve heard of that was fully optioned up with all the important bits!) so it’s a shame they got rid of it. I originally had an N/A in mind, but after driving that demo I knew I just had to have the turbo :)

No problem. And don’t worry about a bit of drool on the paintwork. Nothing a chamois can’t fix! :D
